I am posting a GOOD update, I think!
I have a single vet now. I'm going to live and die by what she recommends. I feel comfortable with her. And while it's apples to oranges, she passed my litmus test - I have a dog with a very unusual presentation of Addison's (I know, that's a story for a...
Not much to update, no real change. We've stopped Clavamox - vet felt that the URI was viral and not bacterial. We started the Viralys. The Viralys seems to have cleared up some of the runny nose, but he's still very congested. No interest in food or water. Feeding through his tube. I've broken...
Hope I'm not annoying everyone with frequent updates!
Found a new vet. We are going to:
Stop the clavamox.
Add Cerenia for the nausea
Add a viralys supplement for his immune system
After the stools firm up and the drooling stops, we'll work on treating the URI and add a Vitamin B Complex to...
The URI has built slowly, and every day is a little worse. Sort of like a human cold. Started with a little sneeze and some clear nasal discharge. Today, his nose is completely stuffed; he has dried green snot all over, and some eye buggers. The sneezing is not as frequent today. What I though...
Update:
I got a message out to a couple of different vets. They are both (independently of each other) calling the emergency hospital to get our records and figure out what is going on. Whichever one I feel more comfortable with, I'm going with.
Now for some OK news. We had a non-diarrhea poo...
Update: Just finished second feeding. Kitty was given an anti-nausea shot, or else I think he'd be vomiting it up. He's showing the signs - drooling, gagging after he was fed through the e-tube, etc. More concerning is the diarrhea. We are feeding 30ml of Purina CN every 4 hours. It is going...
Update: finally got the vet to give a feeding tube. I had to threaten euthanasia to get it. Not proud, but it got the job done. I don't think there were any other options here, since I've tried everything - except the goat milk. Don't know where I can find that.
The procedure is taking place...
Also forgot to add - we've lifted the isolation a little bit. He was isolated really more for his safety - post op care said we should limit his movement and jumping. He did walk to his scratching post and scratch a couple of times, and had a 20 minute snuggle with the dog. The other cats don't...
Thanks - I am absolutely positive that I am stressing him out, but I don't know what to do.
Since my posting, I've tried:
- Corn syrup on his gums. This caused him to voluntarily drink water, which is a good sign.
- Yogurt
- More tuna
- Sour cream. He licked this off lips, but wouldn't take...
We have him separated from the other pets. He seems perfectly content just curling up in the sun. I brushed him this afternoon and got a very loud purr. I don't think he is stressed, just sort of "blah".
We did board him at the vet twice this week after surgery, but the vet discharged him both...
I am at my breaking point here - posting here is my very last resort. I have no other options left.
I have a 7 year old DSH male kitty. Perfect health his whole life. On Christmas, I got the call every pet owner dreads when they are on vacation - the pet sitter called to tell us that kitty was...
Thanks for the suggestions. Feliway has never worked on his aggression before, and the local pet store didn't have any. I've trimmed his nails and gone back to the tried but true squirt gun to let him know the furniture is off limits. If it continues, I'll order some online.
Last night was...
Hi all, long time lurker, first post.
Here's the background (sorry for the length). We have 4 cats and one dog. One of the cats, Ringo (hence my username) is in charge. And I don't mean just the alpha. No other way to put it, he's a jerk and a bully. He has always been absolutely horrible to...
