Thank you everyone for your advice!!. I've decided, at least for the moment, to just "let him be" and he seems to like that. Obviously I'm disapointed that my cat could care less about me, being around me, having me pet him etc., but no interaction with him means no opportunity for him to...
I've heard of petting aggression, but this seems like something totally different and when he bites, it's a real bite and often draws blood. I have tried saying no, I have tried walking away, I have even put him in a separate room for 5 minutes as a time out, but it doesn't seem to work. I...
I'm still unsure what to do with my big guy. At 19 lbs, he can be quite vicious and unpredictable. He has moments where he is nice, but before long, he's latching onto my arm and biting me. I don't know how to get him to stop? We're actually considering declawing (front only) because he is...
I did quite a bit of research about that parasite. For me, the biggest clue was the smell when he would use the litter, it was terrible. I hope that you'll get your answer soon!
Thanks Di an Bob!
Yes, my guy is neutered and I had been very hopeful that would 'do the trick', but it didn't help. I guess I just have to keep at it and hope that he'll get better with age.
Thank you Payaza for your response. The bites don't seem playful, more agressive in nature. I feel like he's constantly telling me that "he's the boss". I can't get him to stop doing anything bad without getting a bite.
I will try and tucker him out and see if that works! I apprecate the...
You're good pet parents, Lola is very lucky!
With the Trichonomas Parasite, the parasite can only be found in soft stool. When my cat was tested, I dropped him off at my vet and they got the sample. That particular parasite is very senstive and doesn't "last" long in certain conditions (hot...
Hi all,
I'm hoping for some tips or advice about my cat (kitten), who is almost 9 months old.
When we first got him, he was very loving and sweet. We experienced some issues with his stomach (he had Trichomonas Foetus) and that's when the biting started. He's since been treated...
Hi Domino84 ,
I can completely understand what you're going through. I had a similar problem with my kitten when I first got him and we spent over $1000 on vet bills, food etc. I went through about 6 different foods (prescription and normal) and ended up settling on Natures Variety Limited...
Absolutely!!! I think had my vet suggested it, I wouldn't have questioned it, but because she said 'that when she was in med school, that was a parasite in cattle' and because she didn't know much about it, I assumed it wasn't the prevalent.
If will be so good to get him sorted!! And then I'll...
I have been on cloud 9 all morning! My vet is currently looking into where she can get the treatment in Toronto, so hopefully I'll have a prescription in the next few days. Not sure what the cost will be, but it doesn't really matter.
I'm pretty sure this was the first time my vet tested for...
My vet just called and Linus does have tritrichomonas foetus ... HUGE thank you to all members of this forum for your suggestions and help!!! If I hadn't found you guys, Linus would have been going on steroids for IBD.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Thanks Denice! I know its true and really I shouldn't complain .... He could have something worse. I guess in the past I've been so lucky with my cats that I've never had to deal with this sort of thing!
The Tylosin doesn't seem to be working, at all. He's been on it since Friday,1 pill twice a day, and his diarrhea is just as bad. It's not the watery mess it was on Friday, but still soft and causes him to bleed. I've had to clean him up twice today... Blood and poo.
The good news is that...
Thanks again Denice! It is actually quite good to hear that you've had so much luck with the steroid. When the vet said that I got worried ... But for some reason I thought it was a shot and not a pill, which I would have a hard time with.
I do hope that it is the parasite, but at least I...
Thanks Denice. What steroid is your cat on? Is it expensive?
This is all so new to me and when I added up all the vet bills to date, we are at almost 900 and that doesn't include all his food.
I personally don't know how you'll do it! I've been consumed with stress and worry for 2 months...
Back from the vet. Gave him some fluids and an appetite pill and he's on a new antibiotic ... Tylosin. The vet figured this would buy us some time to get the results back from the PCR test.
If the tylosin doesn't work and he doesn't have a parasite, next step would be a biopsy (at a cost of...
