Hi Folks!
Been a looooong time since I've posted... Really long story.
Hope everyone and their Kitties are doing well!
Anyway, we are considering moving, but within a couple of miles away. I know that some Kitties have a tendency to try to return "home." It would permanently scar me if one...
Wow, I thought I had a pretty good handle on this topic...
then, I decided to do a search on Dicalcium Phosphate - lots of conflicting info out there on this,
but many of our "favorite" brands use this ingredient.
Warning: If you are really obsessive about what you feed your Kitties...
Thanks to everyone who helped in the "My New Dry Food Challenge!" thread.
In the event that someone at some point needs a Dry food with these same restrictions,
I thought I'd summarize our findings here, and hopefully get some feedback on the contenders.
Note: I feed dry as a between meal...
Ok, now that California Natural is off the menu for awhile,
I need to find another Dry food for the Kitties' "between meal snack."
No big deal, right?
Hundreds of brands to choose from, right?
Ok, the "only" ingredients I need to avoid are:
Fish / Fish meal (Boo has become UTI prone)
Peas...
"Natura Pet Products is voluntarily expanding its March 29, 2013 recall of dry pet foods because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The expanded recall now includes all dry pet food products and treats with expiration dates prior to and including March 24, 2014. Please...
Wish I could edit the Thread Title...
it is NOT cans at this point - just Dry... my mistake!
Not all varieties.

There is no confirmation from authorities - however, it has been shared with TruthaboutPetFood.com that Massachusetts Department of Agriculture is testing/has tested Evo Cat Food for Salmonella. It is believed some of the pet food has tested positive for Salmonella.

I almost hesitate to revive the carrageenan issue, but is the jury still out,
or have we dicided that it should be avoided.
About the EVO, since reading about the potential dangers of carrageenan last year,
I have been just dumping the "solid" food into the mixing bowl
and pouring the "gel"...
Ok, I have to admit, this kind of pains me to write,
as I have always been a fan of Blue Products...
in fact, my Kitties did very well on Blue Spa and Wilderness for about 5 years
until we went 100% Grain Free and switched brands - then 3 of my Kitties
subsequently developed an allergy to...
OK, I know a few folks (Laurie for example ) will be glad to hear this.
I am strongly considering using raw chicken breast strips for my kitties to gnaw on
in hopes that it will help to keep their teeth and gums healthy.
I am also looking at the CET treats, but with 6 Indoor Kitties plus...
Seems to just be one batch with a "Best By" date of 10-04-13.

I posted this info in another very long thread, but thought it deserved its own
so other people on a budget might have a chance to learn about it.
Unless there are small amounts of grains included in some of the by-products, this appears to be grain free.
Similar to Friskies Poultry Platter...
Aside from the carrageenan, I have always thought BN 95% is a great food and a very good value among GF options.
I was on PFD the other day placing an order and I noticed that the cans have changed from 6 or 6.5 oz
to 5.5 oz, and the case pack has changed from 12 to 24 cans. Not "that" big of...
Are their any studies or any evidence at all that proves to us that
Peas and Potatoes are any better (or less harmful) to our Kitties
than Whole Grain Brown Rice and Barley for example?
In general, I try to feed low carb, and mostly wet food rather than dry,
but when faced with the...
So, I have been mixing Friskies P/P with Innova Cat & Kitten for my Ferals and Garden Kitties,
and I recently noticed that many of the PetSmart Brand (Grreat Choice)
cans of Kitty food have the same names as Friskies flavors.
Also, the ingredients are very similar, leading me to wonder...
I suddenly thought it might be a good idea to put Breakaway Flea collars on my Garden / Feral Kitties,
at least the ones who will let me get close enough. However, I know that most flea collars have ingredients
that we would not want to put on our Kitties.
I thought about using Food Grade...
I have seen Hawks on many occasions in the back yard area,
but today I saw a very LARGE Great Horned Owl sitting in the tree
which has my Bird Feeders and a Squirrel Feeder hanging in it.
I ran to the door to scare it away and it must have seen me because it flew while I was reaching for the...
OK so, in addition to our 5 resident Indoor Kitties and the Garden / Feral Kitties,
we have been Fostering 3 little ones since they were two days old
after they were abandoned by their Cat mom when some neighborhood children
found them and played with them for a few hours.
I finally found...
October 13, 2012 - Nature’s Recipe brand is voluntarily recalling a limited supply of Nature’s Recipe174 Oven Baked Biscuits with Real Chicken, manufactured in one of its U.S. production facilities. This is being done as a precautionary measure, as the product has the potential to be...
