    When it rains, it pours...

Thanks Ruth. These were our first two cats and I am alternating between feeling like a total failure and wondering what I did wrong....

    When it rains, it pours...

A few months ago, I wrote in asking for advice on my female medium haired cat, Evie, who had begun urinating outside of her cat box on the beds that our new chihuahua pup was frequenting. We took her to the vet and they said nothing physically wrong with her. We spent hundreds on special...

    What pets do you have

Unfortunately, reptiles are so... alien... to most people that they simply can't understand their needs without really getting to know them through research. Mammals are easily understood, for the most part, but reptiles aren't. I've lost track of the number of new snake owners who have told me...

    What pets do you have

We just have everything pretty well scheduled with regards to when certain things are done. It's a shared passion, too, so spending an evening cleaning cages isn't a bad thing for us.

    Spaying/Neutering Small Mammals

Thanks for the info. We found a local vet that is experienced in doing bunny neuters, and I think we will have him done. We're going to talk to them about the gerbils. If I don't have to split up a bonded pair, I'd rather not.

    Enzyme cleaner not working!

Stink Free works really well for us, even on clothing and dog beds (the two things ours was really peeing on). We just poured it on, worked it in a bit and then let it air dry.

Please help me! Cat peeing everywhere

I wanted to take a minute to update this thread. We had been having terrible troubles with our cat, Evie, peeing on our chihuahua's beds. We thought this was stemming from jealousy or irritation as the chi was young and would play with the cat, sometimes too roughly, but the cat showed no real...

    Spaying/Neutering Small Mammals

Any thoughts or experienced on spaying/neutering small mammals? I have one breeding pair of gerbils right now, and the American Gerbil Society webpage reccomends neutering the males after breeding so the mated pair can stay together for life. We're also considering the option for our male...

    What pets do you have

My GF and I had a lot of pets alone, but when we moved in together it became a veritable zoo. We have three dogs (Riley, Golden Retriever, age 4; Apache, Chihuahua, age 1; Katie, Basset hound, age 7 mths) 2 aging ferrets (Bob & Yuki, both 5) Some birds (1 nanday conure, Rico; 2 cockatiels...

Please help me! Cat peeing everywhere

We feel like if we can just hold out for a couple of years, we will be moving to my in-laws farm property in Virginia. It's over 100 acres, very rural and safe, and we could keep her as an indoor/outdoor cat there. I have a friend at work who had this issue with one of her cats and that was her...

Please help me! Cat peeing everywhere

We are going to try and confine her for now. We need to first build doors to the back room of the basement (only non-carpet room in the house! D'oh!) but then we can pen her up in there. Do you think it would help to get one of those auto-litter boxes? I scoop once a day, and we haven't...

Please help me! Cat peeing everywhere

I'm sorry, yes, I meant UTI. We are going to have the vet test her AGAIN this month when she gets her yearly shots. The puppy does play with her, very rough and tumble. For a while we were concerned and would remove him from her and place him in his crate, but then we saw her stalking him and...

Please help me! Cat peeing everywhere

Hi folks, I have two cats, a 3 year old silver tabby male and a 2 year old calico female. We also have two dogs-- a 3 year old Golden Retriever male and a new (came home in late April) chihuahua puppy. Since the addition of the puppy, our female cat Evie has begin urinating EVERYWHERE. She is...

    New food?

Our local Petsmart carries both Royal Canin and Nutro. I think I'd prefer Nutro. Which brands are safe for UT?

    New food?

Our 3 year old male tabby has issues with regurgitating undigested food. We are currently feeding Purina ONE Urinary Tract Health. Last summer ('09) I changed him over to Blue Indoor Cat formula, which has more meat and less grain. The regurgitating stopped. Then in August, he ended up with a...

    Back from a hiatus...

He he! I was posting a bit this past summer. I mostly lurk and read. I often comment on cute kitty pics, and reptile pics, too.

    Back from a hiatus...

Hello everyone, I haven't been around in sometime due to life situations. I am working two jobs, teaching day and night school, to get my SO through nursing school (after that I can quit my night job and she can be my sugar-mama!) and it's crazy stressful. All my critters are doing really well...
