Cooking meat does not destroy nutrients--this is a very common misconception. As for the risks of raw diets go, I have seen: bone impactions lacerations/perforations due to consuming bones salmonella vitamin deficiencies etc........... I have never seen these problems due to so-called...

    Moggy or Siamese/Burmese

My OCD cat's biggest fixation is clawing things--but not the usual kitty furniture destruction. All night she scratches at the walls--I will catch her, eyes glazed over, not even looking at what she's doing, wearing her claws down to nothing randomly clawing at walls. She also screams at...

Anyone else here with a snake and a cat?

I also have a ball python with cats. The cats will sit on top of the tank and watch her, she will climb to the top and 'sniff' them with her tongue. Neither cats nor snake get stressed out. I do however ban the cats from the room while feeding to keep her 'privacy'. (you other ball people...

    Moggy or Siamese/Burmese

I have a Bengal and an 'knock-off' Tonkinese (accidental Burmese/Siamese). The bengal is a little troublemaker, always climbing, knocking stuff over, etc. and 'squeaks' and chirps when she talks. She also has a bit of a temper!! She also enjoys showering with me! My 'tonk' is a bit nuts; she...

This is strange, has anyone enountred this before?

Mamma may very well have accidentally nipped his tail off. I have twice encountered nervous young rescue mammas who have accidentally 'overgroomed' or roughly handles their kits and hurt them. One young female with a litter of 11 (!) accidentally nipped off one of the newborns paws.

    Ferrets & Cats!!??

My ferret absolutely loves my two cats. The play wrestle just like kittens. The ferret is tiny (about two pounds) but holds her own just fine with the cats; she's usually the winner. The also cuddle and groom each other. She does however hate my small dog with a passion; they cannot be in...

OMG IS IT JUST ME OR are vets getting more and more expensive??

Just wanted to comment on costs of small town vs. city vets. It's very simple--running a clinic in the city costs more!! I get new clients all the time who are shocked because their previous vet in a crappy small town was much cheaper. Here are some of the differences for running a clinic in...

    Amitrypilene ??????? Anyone familiar

It takes some time for a cat to become 'habitualized' and adjust to the drug. It is very commone for a cat to be 'dopey' for the first week or two as it's body adjusts to the Elavil. Also, it does not work every other day! It must be given daily, typically twice a day. Also changing the...

Things your dog has eaten...that it shouldn't have!

My favourite x-ray I have ever taken was a 5 month old Dachsund puppy who ate a huge pair of diamond stud earrings!! The little monkey--in order to get to them, she somehow got onto the owner's bed, jumped onto a chair, then the dresser, then opened her jewellery box!! Luckily she crapped them...

    Bengal Owners...please come in :)

Bengals are great cats! Like any breed, it has to be a cat that matches your needs/personality!! They are quite different from ragdolls. My girl is very active, demanding, sometimes a bit destructive (her favourite 'game' is to walk along a shelf/table etc. and knock everything on the floor...

    Ferrets and cats

My ferret loves my cats!! They play wrestle, snuggle together, etc. The one cat is convinced the ferret is her kitten, and will try to scruff her if she is being 'bad', pins her down and bathes her, etc. The ferret hates my dog, unforunately, and will chase and try to bite her. So, they cannot...

    Persistant earmites

Canaural is not an ear mite medication--that is your biggest problem!!! The most common meds used for ear mites are revolution or ivermectin--canaural will not get rid of mites, although it will sooth the ears. Get a new vet!!!!!!!
