Having trouble getting a urine sample

Honestly, I never even though of getting it with a cup! The shelter vet was the one who gave me the lab litter... Our shelter doesn't go above and beyond to do anything medically it seems to me. It's an open door shelter...I doubt I have to say more. He's obese, was 20 lbs, now about 17...

    Anyone feed Felidae dry?

I tried switching to Felidae after I switched the dogs to Canidae. Neither of my cats were fond of it and one of my cats is NOT a finicky cat. The ingredients are great though...

Having trouble getting a urine sample

My foster cat has FLUTD. I need to get a new sample, but I'm having trouble. When I put the litter box down with the lab litter, he's refusing to use it. I'm afraid of him holding his urine too long. I ended up putting his other litter box back out and peed right away. Should I take his...

I discovered how to keep kitten off counter!

Wonderful! My cats are total counter-surfers too.

    Cat fights

Thanks, I've told other people about the feliway diffuser, but never even thought to get one for here! Alma will probably be here until mid January and keeping her seperate isn't a problem (though she woke the house up at 5 a.m. this morning b/c she wanted out of her room!) It's more than...

    Cat fights

Fosters are always under a lot of stress...poor things. The kittens are usually oblivious, but the adults-not so much. I noticed today that my older male, Domino, was chasing her, Alma/Momma today. So it might not be all her fault. I thought it was the other way around, but it might be my...

    Cat fights

These aren't her kittens she's fighting with... I guess because I'm calling her "Momma," you'd think that. oops...

    Cat fights

Both of my cats are neutered. Momma was spayed in mid-November. Her kittens were both adopted, so they are gone, I'm sure that is a loss. The fighting got worse after the kittens were gone. She's been here since August and the main thing that changed was her babies grew up and got adopted...

    Cat fights

Well, that is possible. Mom and kittens were seperate while the kittens were young. I guess I'll go do some research to see what those many reasons may be. I'd like to know more. Thanks!

    Cat fights

I tried to do a search to find a thread about cats fighting, but couldn't find one... I have 2 male cats about 1 year and 4 years old. I foster for the Humane Society and we just had a 1 year old mom-cat and her 2 babies. The babies were already adopted and mom-cat is still here for awhile...

Please look at this spay incision

I've always wondered the same thing. I also wonder how they shave around those tiny little nipples too. Also, I think it is really neat to see the skin under the fur though. Especially with calicos or torties or any cat with markings for that matter...

My current fosters are available for adoption!

Ah, thanks! I've had them since the babies were 2 weeks old. We did lose one, Shiloh. Mom and babies are awesome. Mom was only 5 lbs. when she came here, she's put on a couple since then. The babies are healthy (except for Carlisle's URI again). It's always so hard to give them back...

My current fosters are available for adoption!

The shelter is full, so I'm hanging onto them until there is room. Here's some pics of momma kitty and her babies who were born August 1st. Alma, mommy kitty. About 1.5 years old. Baby Dublin. Baby Carlisle.

Please look at this spay incision

Thanks everyone! I took her down to the shelter to have a tech look at it. She still has a URI, so she was put on meds again for that and the meds will help if the incision is infected as well. All's well...

Please look at this spay incision

I've been trying to call the clinic at the shelter and keep getting the machine. It doesn't seem to be affecting her at all (still acting like a crazy kitten!), but I noticed some puss too. I'll keep you updated. Thanks!

Please look at this spay incision

My fosters were spayed/neutered last Thursday. One of the female kitten's spay incision looks a little bad to me. These pictures turned out terrible because of the flash and her squirming. It feels a little hard and there is some dried blood around the incision. Should I run her to the...

    When to stop nursing

My 2 foster babies are now 12 weeks old and once in awhile I still catch them nursing from momma kitty. She doesn't seem to mind. Momma really needs to gain some weight (she was 5 lbs. when she came to me 10 weeks ago, has gained about a 1 lb so far). Should I discourage nursing at this point...

    Is she in heat?

They are foster cats, they belong to the Humane Society. I can only take her to the HS clinic. I want what is best for her health wise, not just because she's driving me crazy. If it's harder to find a vet to do the surgery while in heat, it must not be best for the cat.

    Is she in heat?

My momma foster kitty is driving me nuts. We had a check up today and one of the kittens isn't quite big enough to be spayed, so we're putting off momma and kittens surgery for another week or 2. I figured it would be easier if they all had it done at the same time (mom and two 10 week old...
