    Treats for CRF cat.

Hi everyone, My cat Blue has been diagnosed with kidney disease/CRF about a year ago. She is on medication and Hill's KD diet and is doing very well. However I'm the type of 'cat mom' that likes to include my pets in the holidays. I'm a little stumped this year however since all of the...

    Color Change

I know it isn't a health issue with her. I was just wondering if there is any proven way to determine a cat's age.

    Color Change

This is once again about my cat Blue. We always assumed that when we found Blue she was around 6 months old, which would make her 4 in Feb. After looking at her teeth the vet said her age is probably closer to around 10. What makes me question this is that when we found her with the exception...

101 Things That Can Harm Your Cat

Yeah, that was one that surprised me too. Apparently avocados contain a toxic principle known as persin. The Guatemalan variety, which is the most common variety found in stores, appears to be the most problematic. You can fine out more if you do a web search.

101 Things That Can Harm Your Cat

While I was at the vet the other day I was reading a brochure put out by the ASPCA called 101 things you didn't know could harm your pet. I don't know if there is a way to maybe make this a Sticky but there are a lot of things that are harmful that I wasn't aware of so I wanted to share it...

Blue makes an excellent receptionist, at least when she isn't sleeping on the job!

    Cat drooling/kneading...

My Marley is a kneader, he does it all the time I've only seen him drool once or twice though. He does it at least once a day, usually on an article of clothing, I guess because it has our sent on it. He loves to knead in the laundry pile. He'll usually do it on the bed before he goes to...

This box is not too small

    IBS or sensitive system?

I went through something similar with my Male cat Marley, he used to get diarrhea a lot. We took him to the vet and they tested him for everything but couldn't find anything. What worked for me, and please check with a vet to make sure it's okay, but I used to give him regular wet food with...

    Blood in urine

I don't know why it's taking so long for the results to come in either. I just had to have a urinalysis and blood work done on Blue and the results were in in less then 24 hours. I would call the vet and ask if there's anyway to get them quicker since your cat most likely has some sort of...

It's time to say goodbye, and it breaks my heart

I don't go usually go anywhere either. I hate leaving them and I'm worried about them the entire time, even though I get my sister to stop by and check on them. There have been time where I have to go away for work which is a main reason I'm in the process of a career change. Especially now...

    Vibes Please

I just started volunteering at a shelter a few weeks ago, not really long enough to put on a resume although I did mention it. I think the main reason he want someone with experience is because of what the job is. It's pretty much a lot of cleaning and stuff like walking dogs, it's not medical...

What unusual things do your cats like to play with?

Marley loves these toys I found at a cat show, I found more on ebay after that but haven't been able to find them since. They're foam toys in different shapes and they are infused with catnip. He likes the fish shape the best but he plays fetch with them, and carries them around in his mouth...

    Vibes Please

Okay so I have been in the process of trying to get into the veterinary field, not a veterinarian or anything like that but I'm considering doing the online thing and maybe going for vet tech. But anyway for the past few months I've been applying for just about any positions available in vet...

HOW does your vet get blood??

The vet said the jugular is quicker because the blood comes out a lot faster. When he took it from her leg he had to have the needle in for at almost a minuet before he got all the blood he needed. I still prefer it that way though.

    Protein

Well I just spoke to the vet, I'm actually shocked he called me on a Sunday to check on Blue. I thought that was pretty cool of him. Anyway I asked him if giving her more protein would help or hurt her. He said probably won't make much of a difference we just have to let the medication do...

HOW does your vet get blood??

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience, I hope you cat is doing better. The symptoms you described, the limping, is what one of the symptoms the cat I read about had. The sign of the clot was the loss of use of the rear legs, I'm glad you were able to get her to a good vet in...

HOW does your vet get blood??

I just had my first experience with blood drawing the other day. The vet tried the jugular twice with no success. I personally think the assistant did a very bad job restraining her. But he wasn't able to get it from the jugular so he got it from her inner thigh area. The whole process was...

    Protein

I appreciate the post. I wouldn't do anything without first discussing it with a vet, I basically use the information I get here as things to bring up when we do to the vet. Also I like to hear from people in similar situations to get insite from their experiences.
