Sudden onset blindness, any second opinions?

Good news about your dad, finnlacey! Yeah, the blood pressure thing is bugging me.  I am kind of torn being going back to the same clinic, or starting fresh elsewhere.  His pupils, which were completely nonresponsive to the light during his examination, are now reacting to light.  And while I...

Sudden onset blindness, any second opinions?

I appreciate that information.  Grace has severe weekness in his hind legs, which was diagnosed as arthritis last year.  I give him glucosamine supplements and while he can run, he has no strength to jump up.   His diet has been VF chicken & rice and most recently, Royal Canin Indoor Mature...

Sudden onset blindness, any second opinions?

Thanks for the responses.  The blood pressure was a question I also came up with during my reading.  But apparently it is usually secondary to other conditions, kidney, thyroid, which the vet seemed to think did not apply.  I was back at the clinic today with another cat and was going to...

Sudden onset blindness, any second opinions?

Hi everyone, long time no see. I had a situation this past week and I'm curious for a reaction from board members who have possibly had similar situations. I've had Grace for 16 years.  He is at least 17.  Was last to the vet 1 year ago.  Showing no outward symptoms of kidney, thyroid, etc. ...

    When the moment comes...

That was a wonderful post, Gareth. Sometimes it takes years and multiple cats to understand, but many people will see themselves and understand.

wanted to trade.... =^^= for =^^=

My cat Vizzy is bothered by other cats even looking at her. She lives in a group of 12 and the stress was causing her to overgroom, hide, etc. I have never had good success with Feliway and the location with open deck meant I would need something that actually stayed with the cat. I've had...

    Just a Vent

I ran into a friend I had not seen in a while earlier this week. She asked how many cats I had now. It's an obscene number, but I deal with it... I asked how she was doing. I know she had 8 the last time I talked to her. She's down to 1 now.... she decided to go back to school, so she...

    Running out of options...

So you had no success with the Good Behavior collar? I recently put one on a pariah cat and have found her to be showing marked improvement in her relations with the other cats. However, her behavior issues were not litter box related. I don't use the difuser because I like to open the...

    RIP Quinn

I am very sorry, Andrew. I've been following Quinn's story and had hoped for a happy ending. Although her life was shorter than some, she knew more love than many.

Maybe it's time to stop crying

For myself, I seem to be turning the grief into a ritual. For a week ahead of time I start to think about it. I look at the calendar, know what day it's going to fall on. From the moment I wake up that morning I start to dwell on it. Then if I actually forget for a while, I feel bad about...

    Ugly Cats

Tomu is a very handsome cat. Your sister's coworker must be visually impared. My Jesse is a bit odd eyed due to having been whacked in the head by a car as a kitten. He's not ugly though, he's....unique.

Maybe it's time to stop crying

Today is one of those anniversaries. The kind of day we all have where you remember hour for hour what you were doing and when it ended. I'm sitting here all teary eyed, but thinking how inappropriate my feelings really are. Most TCS members give their pets every chance for a full and...

RIP Doodle, Charlotte, and big tiger guy

Hopefully Doodle, Charlotte and Big Tiger knew happier days when they were young kitties. I'm curious, do the people who dump these older cats (as in the case of Doodle and Charlotte) ever come back to check on them, see whether they were adopted? Or, once out of sight, out of mind.

    USPS Animal Rescue Stamps!

All you can do now is preorder them. I think the official release date is April 30th. Our post office here never has much of a selection either, but it's their social awareness stamp for 2010, so hopefully they'll have them available. Adopt a Shelter Pet stamps! I love it. Thanks post office.

Cat with Protein Losing Nephopathy, please help

I lost my cat Rusty to protein losing enteropathy (PLE). Is that what you're referring to? That said, my veterinarian said the fact that he did not respond to treatment was likely due to other underlying conditions. He was 15. It presented itself with a symptom that made him appear to be...

    Shopping at Thrift Stores

I don't have a problem with wearing clothes from a thrift store. I always wash them first, or spray them if it's shoes. Even with new clothing you have no idea who tried it on, bought it, brought it back, etc. You probably don't know the conditions under which it was made. I know not...
