HELP!!! My Cat Is Eating My Carpet

I'm still having problems with my cats with claws scratching - and now having a move in date with the fiance - we went through the de-clawing issue as I had posted here - afraid he would give me an ultimatum (but he didn't - he just needed to vent the feelings)and we both knew I absolutely...

    cats and coffee

My kitty comes right up to the coffee cup sniffing when I'm drinking it. So I dab my finger in it and let her lick a few drops off my finger. After 3 dabs or so she's had enough -- but she really seems to like it!....maybe ground coffee in a can looks like mud or some substance to play with?

    Moving

Has anyone had any experience with moving and moving cats at the same time? I am thinking of keeping my two in carriers while we move my stuff out - then letting them out, calming them down, and leaving them in the apartment they are familiar with, with their little beds food and litterbox and...

My cat got outside and hasn't came home!!

I am so glad your kitty came home - you must be a very lucky person. It's every cat owner-mom's nightmare! I'm in the city too and I can't believe how many animals (lots of racoons) I see dead on the highways. Recently, at the vet a lady left and her cat got out of the carrier on the side walk...

    Cats comical behavior

Great stories! Yes, they all have distinct personalities. For those with cats that paw computer and/or TV screens -- if you haven't checked out the "Cat Sitter" video you should try it! It's a collection of rodents, birds, etc. and sounds - one of my cats will either run and paw the screen, or...

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Vjoy - My friends use the flat scratcher and gave me their carpeted post because their cat wouldn't use it. Mine definitely use it - but they also like to stretch up against the walls, door, cabinets. It's worth trying as an additional tool - I just have a feeling they need something tall. Betsy

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Midnight - Everything did work out -- my last post was about what I was telling the kitties when I was afraid he would issue an ultimatum -- but he didn't -- I was responding to you writing about kissing your kitty's little paws.

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

When I thought there might possibly be an ultimatum I sat down on the floor crying with the little one and petted her and said "don't worry I'll never do that to you" and "It may just be us 3 now, but that's ok"

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Yes Midnight - If it were as simple as spaying or neutering I think I would consider it -- my little one was jumping up on to a shelf in my closet they both like to sit on just as soon as she got home from spaying, with her little hind paws shaking. Clearly she was not in pain. And just this...

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

I appreciate the responses and will try the carton thing too -- I want to make every attempt to find a solution so that the b/f can feel comfortabe and not anxious. It's a big change having a woman and her two cats move in to a 1 bedroom bachelor pad. Betsy

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Thanks Melissa and Illusion. I'm going to pick up the materials this weekend for making a post and also get the Soft Paws. I also said to my boyfriend it will help if he helps with trimming their claws because I'm not that good at being forceful with them.

    Cats comical behavior

My two year old male cat loves to clean his younger (but larger) sister. Occasionally he gets his paw in a deadlock around part of her to keep her in place while he's licking her. Well, in the AM he usually licks my hand and my arm while I'm in bed and I keep moving because his tongue is really...

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Thanks Melissa - Is the sisal attached to a base that's a regular scratching post? I'm trying to determine what the base is. Also, is the sisal on and do you purchase sisal in a hardware store? I hope this, or something like it works - I told my boyfriend I haven't really trained my cats...

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Thank you for your responses. No, I would never consider de-clawing. I have read the articles and skipped the photos because I can't bear to look at them -- both of my kitties are from rescue agencies and one was found in the street and it has taken over a year for him to stop being jittery...

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

Thanks - I have seen those paw covers on a friend's cat although they had trouble with them falling off - but probably because they didn't get the right size. Also, I'm going to get another scratcher that's larger and has those loops in it that cats like to sit in -- maybe a strategic placement...

    possible ultimatum about de-clawing

The man I am supposed to move in with and marry has a problem with my cats scratching - I have a post - I use a slipcover on the sofa - there are certain things they'll always be able to damage. I can try to train them with aluminum foil and the sticky paws tape when we move and get them in the...

    Cat scratches walls...

My litter box is in the bath tub and when one of my cats is done with digging and burying -- she scratches my shower liner for a few seconds - it looks like she's trying to get the litter out of her claws.
