Feline Herpes is a pain. Everyone's poor kitties!! I wish they had diagnosed Riley earlier, would have saved his eye.
I found a few good sites on this subject...I'll post the links when I am not running out the door!
Best of luck!
Riley was on those drops, to no avail. But when I took him to the opthamologist, he said that that medication was the best course, it just didnt work with Riley. Unfortunitly, I think the first vet to see him misdiagnosed him, and he wasn't put on the drops early enough.
Best of luck!!
GET IT CHECKED NOW!!!!!
Sorry, I didnt mean to shout, but yes, this can lead to serious ulcers, and *sigh*, loss of the eye. Ask yout vet about feline herpes.
From what you have written...its sounds like what happened to Riley.....if you want more info, please PM me...I'm not an expert...
Update:
The opthamologist said the best thing to do was remove the eye. So I made an appointment for the veery next day with my regular vet. That was a nervous day!! SHe called my to tell me how the operatin went, and said I got him there just in time because when she just touched the eye...
Ugh, Riley was on amoxicillian for his eye, and making him take those lil pills was a pain. Most of the time he'd down 'em like a champ (because he had no choice, I tossed hom down his throat) but time he was stubborn! After he was done with all the pills the vet prescribed, I was cleaning...
Okay, so I've had my darling Riley for about two months, and I know the vet office a tad too well.
First was his general checkup a week I had him. Nothin special, just a distemper shot. The shelter had vaccinated and neutered him
A few weeks later I took him back, I had noticed his left eye...
So there may be some peace in my house. Riley had his first vet visit (went fine ;-)), and when we got home....I let him out of his carrier. He ran right upstairs to where Morgan was waiting....and.......no hissing..... I made lunch, read, watched TV....and......no hissing. I went...
A few nights ago I was taking a nice relaxing bath. Morgan, as usual, was just staring at the tub in disbelief that I would immerse myself in water. I got out, drained the tub, went to brush my teeth, when I hear *splash*! Poor Morgie jumped on the side, and being the klutz she is, fell in...
Today was good. I actually forgot both were out.
I got this horrible toy for Morgan. Its a mouse that chirps when touched. Morgie didn't seem to like it much, so I gave it to Riley. He carries it all over the condo. Sooooo annoying! hahahhaa
Then Riley decided Morg was a better toy. He...
Ahhh cat craziness. Morgan now is asserting herself as the Top Cat. When I let Riley near her....the usually hissing ensues. Add to that now, the case. (in a way, good, because she was starting to gain a bit of weight). Riley, however, just wants to play, and doesn't realise that Morgan...
