    vaccinations - yearly?

I used to give mine shots yearly (the 3 in 1 and the rabies). But recent years have proven that the normal shots last longer then yearly. So now my non show cats are on a 3 yr cycle for shots and the ones that are actively being shown (and exposed to more cats, etc) are given every other year...

    What is a tortie?

Tortie is short for tortoiseshell. It refers to the color of the cat - not as a breed of cat. Torties are black and red (orange) mixed together. Dilute torties are blue (grey) and cream (tan). Other colors that are similar: Tortie and White - tortie with white. Some associations will call...

Jack's last show of the season

JC is a chocolate spotted; Jack's a cinnamon spotted. They've never competed directly so not sure how the judges would go. I think JC is better in some areas (head mainly) then Jack is, so it would be interesting JC is a bit longer and taller then Jack.

wash or not to wash...my cat

Use a mild shampoo and be sure he's kept out of drafts and in a warm room to dry. But limit his time outside and you won't have to be washing him. We show cats and they get baths before each show.

Litter Box Issues 2 Kittens Where One Dominates Passive Aggressive

A few suggestions: 1. Feed them in separate rooms or put her in one room and close the door so she can eat in peace. 2. Put a litter pan in two different places or on two different floors - again, so he can't bother her when she's using it. Otherwise they are acting normal. I'm assuming...

Do you think non-clumping litter will solve my problem?

The biggest problem with clay litters is that they really do not absorb the smell at all and are so dusty. We use the wood stove pellets or horse bedding pellets (same as wood stove but used for animal bedding). I think all litter will stick somewhat to the sides. Clumpling litters work...

Reasonable priced dry for my barn cats

Maybe Max Cat or Authority (Max Cat is at Petco; Authority is Petsmart's brand).

Updated Pix Of the Kittens I've Been Fostering

Awww I'm a big sucker for those red cats - they should have no trouble finding homes. Nice color and markings on them.

    @ What Age Should

I never feed hard food to kittens under 8 weeks old. They are always started on canned kitten food (chicken or lamb only) around 5 weeks old. I mix with KMR and warm water to a thick soup and then take each kitten indivdually and let them lick it off my fingers. I feed them on a shallow plate...

    Wellness canned

I've had it happen in the past, but not lately. What flavor?

    Indoor vs Outdoor cats

I would either keep them in all the time (ours are 100% indoor cats) or only be outside under supervision. Either train to a harness/leash and go out with them or build/buy a sturdy enclosed cat enclosure where they can sit outside in safety. Far too many dangers outside now to let them out...

    shots, vaccines?

Breeders usually start them at 8 weeks, then shots again at 12 and 16 weeks, rabies at 16 weeks. Be sure your kitten is also spayed/neutered by 3-4 months old. Kittens as young as 4 months are capable of breeding.
