Oh my goodness! You poor thing, and your poor kitty. Have you considered asking the vet for an oral flea treatment like Comfortis in order to treat the fleas immediately without irritating his wounds? I wouldn't want to have him stay out in the cold, especially if he is in such bad shape.
One of our cats has unusually long, thick, and plentiful whiskers. They're super cute, but she tends to get food stuck in them! I'm always afraid to clean them for her because I know that whiskers are so sensitive. But I also hate the idea of letting her walk around with food hanging on her...
We clean our cat's butt. When we first adopted our kitten (at four months) she had really loose stool and would get poop smears on the bed. :-( One thing to keep in mind, though, is that baby wipes are apparently not good for pets because most contain conditioners that are irritants for cats'...
Aww, poor kitten! I hate to think of her has being hungry or wanting for food.
As for the dry kibble at night, that's a good idea. Thanks! I think I'll do that. :)
No, that's not cruel. Cats are very territorial, so having some space and territory of his own will help him to feel more secure. Just be sure to spend plenty of time and play with him in there, and you can slowly re-introduce the cats. Our second kitten was four months old when we first brought...
@mrsgreenjeens
She gets SO much exercise, and she gets into everything! Our other cat was never like this when she was young, but this one has more energy than everyone in the house combined! She will literally bounce off the walls. That was one reason that I always wanted to make sure that she...
Thanks everyone for the feedback!
I hadn't heard of the one-month rule, but at 4 1/2 months she weighed about 4.5 lbs, so she was pretty spot on, I guess! We haven't weighed her since; our scale doesn't pick up anything under 10 lbs.
We feed her mostly wet food 2-3 times a day. I was mostly...
Congratulations on your new kitty! Don't beat yourself up. It's so hard to know how kitties will react. Most of the advice that I read suggests that slowly introducing the new kitties is best. Making their first interactions face-to-face is perceived as threatening to the old cat, and your...
We've adopted our second cat when she was four months old, and she's nearly doubled in size since we've had her. she's gone from looking like a fluffy kitten to a full grown cat with a head that's too small for her body, lol. Now that her growth spurt seems to be over, I'm not sure how much I...
Thanks so much for the well wishes and advice everyone. We heard back from the vet today, and she has a slight hormonal imbalance that was exacerbated by the stress of the new kitten. We have a synthetic progesterone to put into her food that should help her get back to normal. The extra water...
Yikes! I was afraid of something like that. She had blood-work done as part of her senior wellness exam in June, and everything came back fine. She's been peeing a LOT for the past year or so, but has remained otherwise fine. I haven't noticed any weird polish-like smells coming from her, and...
My cat, Bella, is ten years old. She's been acting cranky and hiding, but we figured she was adjusting to the new cat we brought home last month. The past week or so, however, have made me really concerned. She's been drinking a lot of water, but we can't get her to eat. I was able to coax her...
Oh my goodness! That sounds so frightening. I'm so sorry to hear about your poor kitty. Please keep us posted as to how the timed feeding goes. Good luck! <3
Our kitten is four months. Both Bella and Sylvie, the kitten, eat different wet foods. We feed the kitten Royal Canin kitten food, which comes (as best I know) in only one flavor. It's what they fed her at the shelter, and I didn't want to switch her food unnecessarily. We could feed her more...
I would love to know if there is a solution because we have a similar problem: We just adopted a new kitten last week who keeps eating the resident cat's food. We did the whole keeping the kitten in an isolated room and introducing them slowly thing... but now that they both roam parts of the...
