I don't know if you ever received an answer but we had the same issue with our cat Furby - also a talker:-)   We had to get her off dry food because of pre-diabetes and Friskies shreds really helped a lot.   Furby definately only liked gravy foods at first.  Now she will eat fancy feast pate but...
