Thanks Tobermory, the 10% rule is good to know. I am going to give NWN a go, and I eventually want to introduce her to other proteins to give myself some more options. I've just found out about another brand called Small batch which sounds good too! I'll try reach out to them.
Another question I had, I saw some users here post that you could add extra meat to reduce the ratio of bone. I saw some freeze dried raw rabbit "treats" that are just meat only, would supplementing with that be an option? I'm guessing the downside is less nutrition?
Just wanted to see if anyone has any info/experience with feeding this to their cats. Transitioning to full raw (I'm currently doing just commercial), my 8 month old is on the Stella & Chewys rabbit morsel but I just found it has high bone content. She's potentially intolerant to poultry so I...
I was giving her 0.4 ml, at 80mg/ml so roughly 35 ish mg I guess?
I was actually planning to have last night be her last dose, she was on it to help her keep calm while her leg was recovering in crate rest, but I'm at the very tail end of that and her leg looks recovered.
Thanks so much for...
The only pill I've given her is credelio, it's fairly small so I haven't had much issue with it. I've not tried giving a larger pill, I was reading some of them you need a tool?
Before last night I hadn't had any incidents with liquid administration, I think I was just unlucky with the stuck...
Thank you everyone, really appreciate the response and helping me to stay calm.
The gabapentin I got from the vet specifically for her, I'm not sure if that means it's compounded? She's thankfully acting completely normal and breathing perfectly fine (measured her resting breath rate too)...
Hey all, this just happened like 10 mins ago. Was administering some liquid gabapentin through a syringe, and she struggled a bit and I shot the liquid a bit too fast. She coughed a bit afterwards, not awfully but it was the first time I've heard her cough. Maybe did like 8 coughs? Only lasted...
Thank you! It's been a long process, but I'm glad that it's progressing well. Hopeful that the mucus will subside with continued improvement in her diet :)
Old thread, but wanted to give an update in case others come across this and wanted to know what ended up working.
I kind of suspected it was a diet thing from the start, but seeing as Fcov and Salmonella could potentially cause diarrhea I had to try explore that first but eventually gave a...
Quick update:
I've been giving her psyllium powder, proviable DC, slippery elm and S Boulardii, very gradually increasing the dose throughout the week and her stool keeps improving! I'm happy her gut is healing.
Lately I'd been wondering if an ingredient in her kibble might not agree with her...
Resident kitten is a girl 6 months old, playful and energetic and I've had her for a couple months.
potential new kitten is a different breed, 4 month old male, described as a little reserved and careful.
Both were socialized since birth.
The resident kitten was recently diagnosed with fcov...
I didn't realize that Salmonella was common in cats, I really struggled to find info on it to be honest. It's been a bit difficult to have to be overly cautious about cleanliness, especially when she likes to bite everything lol.
From the phone call I had with the vet she suspected it was more...
Thank you for that, that's incredibly insightful. I didn't consider that being a solo cat would actually be more stressful for her, and makes me feel a lot better about proceeding with the new kitten. I've had a huge knot in my gut about this and was ready to cancel, but a part of me also feels...
I'm having what I feel is an ethical dilemma and would love people's opinions. I am supposed to pick up a new kitten (from a breeder) in a couple of weeks. I really wanted a sibling for my kitten, especially while she's young but this diagnosis has completely made me reconsider, as heartbreaking...
Thanks for the response, I was struggling to find much information from forums and wanted user insights! I'm hoping that this will soon pass, and that the metronidazole didn't aggravate the salmonella bacteria.
So far she is still acting normal and happy.
Just a quick update, managed to talk to the vet this morning. Her recent fecal panel results came back and she tested positive for feline coronavirus and salmonella. She suggested to stop the antibiotics, and give psyllium husk a try (and I'm picking up a few cans of prescription food to try)...
Thank you for the advice and reassurance everyone, I will just continue with her antibiotic (it's only for 5-7 days) and hopefully be able to get more info from the vet today!
Hi all, new to the forum. Sorry for the info dump! I've been struggling with my Kitten's diarrhea and am feeling at a bit of a loss - and would love some guidance/advice on how to proceed.
She's just over 5 months, I've had her for Around 8 weeks now. Her stool at the start were normal, after...
