OK here's a question for you. Can my cat's pregnancy affect her dander and make it more allergenic? I think I may be allergic to the Mom, but I've never had allergies before. She's mostly been in our home since her pregnancy. I'm wondering if hormones can make dander more - dander-y.? LOL...
OK she is back in our room as of last night. Slept in the crate without a sound the whole night. Now this morning she WON'T STOP MEOWING!!!!
The kittens are highly mobile now. I did a thorough sweep of the room to kitten proof it. I bought a playpen for them to contain them a little but she...
I put the crate back next to my side of the bed. My son went back to college. The house is peaceful.
She came out without the kittens and I gave her a smidge of whipped cream, her idea of heaven, while next to the crate. She was beside herself trying to get out before so we let her take the...
OK she is carrying a kitten and trying desperately to get out of my bedroom. But It was too dangerous in my husband's office, even if she was happier there. Under his desk while he is working it would be far too easy for him to roll the office chair over a kitten. Especially since one is black...
I moved the whole nesting crate into my walk in closet. It's huge and she was interested in it when she was pregnant. Neither of us go in there very often. I put her litter, food and water in there too. It was too dangerous in my husband's office, even if she was happier there. Under his...
So it's not heat. She took one of the kittens and hid with her. I think maybe having my son home from college and letting him handle the babies was too much for her. The other 2 are on the heating pad so they are taken care of.
Will she come back to them, or to the nest? He's going back...
OK thanks. I have that playpen coming, maybe that will help. Do you think having my son home from college and playing with the kittens could be part of her anxiety too?
She leaves the room sometimes, just not the kittens. I really think it's heat. Yay me. LOL I'm doing some research on how to soothe her during heat. How soon after birthing can she be spayed? Thanks
Thanks everyone for your much needed advice. I have another question. The kittens are a little over 3 weeks now, healthy, thriving. Yesterday and this morning, Mom just won't stop meowing. She's pacing around, looking for places to hide, restless, maybe a little anxious. Any idea why...
Thing is, I'm trying to figure out what 'normal' might be for her! LOL I only got to know her shortly before she became pregnant. I have no idea if she's actually an affectionate cat, or happy in a home, or if these are completely pregnancy symptoms.
Thank you for that. Do you think the stray/mama will still be affectionate towards us? Want to stay inside even if it's part time? I'd love to have her as a member of the family but not at the expense of our other cat, who is an absolute love. It's killing me seeing her so stressed out.
OK, so I know that during pregnancy and after, hormones are flying around, changing behaviors. What I want to know is does the experience change the mama cat at all?
We were adopted by a stray and then realized she was pregnant. I mistook the signs as her warming up to us - more...
The mom has been really quiet the last 5 hours or so. I thought maybe she was finally just really sleeping, as it seemed she's been awake or alert for nearly 2 days now since the birth. But now she's refusing food too. Should I be concerned? Thanks
Nevermind. I pulled out some tuna and she...
Thanks! I haven't left her side. Slept on the floor next to the birthing nest last night. All 3 babies gained weight today, and she is settling down a bit.
