Sorry I haven't replied, had some car trouble yesterday.
Actually have no reference for Kenna's reaction to strange cats. There haven't been any in the window recently. I've been told that she did see a racoon, and reacted with curiosity more than anything. That's significant, because my last...
Our female spayed cat Kenna is almost a year and a half. She's sweet and very playful, and we love her dearly. But sometimes we worry we don't give her all the attention she deserves. Especially since we go away most weekends. We've thought off and on about getting her a playmate.
But here's...
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I'm making an effort to make the carrier her new favorite place to be. Notably by leaving it out and serving her catnip in there. Fingers crossed it pays off.
Kenna is 8 months old, and generally well-tempered. We have a boat that we tend to visit on weekends, and we've increasingly tried to take her along, reasoning that she'd rather be with us than not. Especially since we'll be taking several trips this summer.
Anyway, she doesn't mind the boat...
Happy to report that the swelling went down overnight, at least somewhat. If it looks bad in a few hours, I'll take her to the vet.
The cat doesn't seem to care lol.
My cat was on on the balcony this afternoon, maybe 1-2, and went after a bumblebee. The fat ones, not a honey bee. She swatted it to the ground a few times but the bee escaped and flew off. I didn't think much of it, but now it's 8 at night and I've noticed her whole left-front leg has gotten...
Pretty well. I started giving her some Purina One kitten food between meals. I think she actually likes it better than the Fancy Feast at this point, but overall she seems happy and well fed. Spends her time blowing through the apartment like a tornado, followed by long naps.
I never used to give it much thought, although I referred to my last feline as a Tuxedo cat.
Kenna has fur resembling a synthetic rug, and she doesn't seem to shed, so it made me curious. What do you think she is?
Kenna was born Sep 3rd, and has been with us 2 weeks now. She bounces off the walls and attacks us in bed like a typical kitten.
During that period I started out feeding her around three quarters of a can of Fancy Feast Kitten food split into two meals, along with some cat milk in the morning...
Gave her some olive oil this morning, thanks for the tip. She's not shy, she races around the apartment, getting in everyone's face lol.
I got concerned because last night I saw her scratching at the floor, which was an early sign of constipation for my old cat when she was young.
Just brought our new kitten home 2 nights ago, and been feeding her a combination of Fancy Feast Kitten wet food and Whiskas Milk. But although she goes to the litter box frequently, I've yet to identify any poop.
Was a time when I'd shrug this off, but I just had to put down my old cat because...
Really sorry to hear that. I can tell you that I opted for putting Rascal down at home so she would feel as supported as possible.
The downside is that it was really traumatic to me, but the day after is much easier. Cat's eyes apparently don't close when they're sedated. I didn't know that...
Honestly, if I wasn't counting pennies I could have just gotten her the bowel removal surgery, and probably saved money in the long run. She might still be here.
I know, you could spend eternity second-guessing the choices you've made, and the financial aspect isn't trivial. But weighed against...
Was looking at Trupanion and got a quote since I posted earlier. While it's not as much of an investment as a savings account would be, it does have the potential to cover more, and the peace of mind is appealing.
Because if I had it to do over again, I would've wanted to deny Rascal nothing...
