    thanks! he actually was able to get his bowels moving a bit last night, and seems much more relaxed today... would you say that that dose of Miralax is for when it's acute, or more preventative / ongoing, when all is well? Thanks again for your input!

    Thank you! He is now settled in his usual sleeping space, purring -- not pacing the house and straining and vomiting as before. So, it's nice to see him more settled even though I don't think he's passed anything yet. Your cat sounds like mine -- lazy as heck and does not exercise. No pain meds...

    Hi all, I've read through a handful of posts on this sort of thing and have gleaned some help there, but just thought I'd do my own in case there's anything I've missed. Sam is nearly 17, a big couch potato, and occasionally (like a few times a year, I notice) gets constipated (like tonight)...
