Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Just updating. We had Lap of Love come out on Tues. I spent the prior night and that morning in sheer anxiety. We consulted with the vet though and all determined he could safely have a little more time. He ate 3/4 can of Hill’s AD the night before the appt., we hanging out with his best...

I’m so sorry Hobo had to deal with this. How fortunate he was thought to have someone step up to take good care of him and love him for his final time.

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

I had the dreaded appt. scheduled for today....then moved it to Friday. I was worried about pushing it off through another weekend. Of course, now Friday seems so close and I’m contemplating pushing it off. He is still managing to eat....though not very much. Slow weight loss. He is still...

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Just an update: Jett is still with us and I am spending as much time with him as I can. I had a home euthanasia appt. set up for him Thurs. but he was still managing to eat (not enough to maintain his weight but enough to keep the weight loss very slow), snuggling with me and our other cat...

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Update (not good): My vet was kind enough to to speak with the oncologist we had the appt. set up with because I wanted to know if they could even give us any options before I stressed him by bringing him down there for nothing. The oncologist said that just throwing one or two medications I...

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Thank you all for the support. Last week I tried to make an oncologist appt. at a pet cancer speciality center, but they didn’t have anything until April 1. I didn’t think he could keep going like this until then. I found a different oncologist that can get him in on Thurs. The official CT...

Jettt is an all black cat too and looks very similar. Things are going downhill very quickly. We just added prednisolone to his meds. He seemed to perk up a bit last night, but today has not been very good. He has gone over to the smorgasbord of foods I have laid out but has only taken two...

    Medication and the dying process

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I have it looming ahead very soon as my 11 year old cat was diagnosed with aggressive oral cancer on Sunday and is going downhill quickly. As Mrsgreenjeans said above, if it typically doesn’t cause her any negative effects then I think I would just go...

    dogs keep attacking my cat

If your parents happen to sleep with the dogs in their room at night, perhaps you could keep her safe closed in your room during the day but let her have the run of the house at night?

Sick kitty - potentially Cancer.. I need advice!

At 2.5 years old, it seems like cancer would be highly unusual. I’m not a vet but, given your cats age and symptoms, it potentially sounds like nasal polyps? I would test for that before running all of these other tests.

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Thanks. I’m so sorry you lost a cat to this. Yes, based on everything I’ve read (I feel like everything on the internet over the past day and half), you are right. I’ve seen people talking of having to wait for oncologist appts., tests etc. and there is just not that kind of time In most...

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Well, the news was not good. We won’t get the biopsy result and the expert analysis of the CT scan until next week, but the vet said she looked at the scan and saw bone degradation (I think that was the term) of the bone in his jaw. Basically, it’s in his bones. It’s in his upper jaw so that...

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

Thanks all for your replies. I cooked some tuna for Jett last night and broke it into tiny pieces and he ate it all along with some canned food but I can see he is struggling to eat. We dropped him off this morning for his tests and I have nervously been waiting for a call all day. Hoping...

Sudden swelling in cheek; vet says 95% sure it’s cancer. Help.

So, I woke up this morning to find my 11 year old cat, Jett, with facial swelling on one side and his tongue hanging out. He was fine yesterday. I researched on the internet and was hopeful maybe it was an abscess ...although the area under the swelling was hard. We were able to get him in to...
