    Tonight she didn’t want to eat anything or even drink water. I had one can of prescription tuna pate, so took the advice and made a slurry mix and she had some finally. Crossing fingers that we found something that works.

    To clarify, these were used as pain meds, just 1ml every 12 hours. Currently on Gabapentin, she is definitely sedated but is responsive. Won’t close her eyes and sleep though.

    We’ve observed that our cat reacts to two different sedatives in the same, unexpected way: she sits and stares with dilated pupils and won’t sleep, even for days. We first saw this with Buprenorphine, and now with Gabapentin. Is this common? What should we do?

    Thanks for the suggestions. Tanya’s site is very interesting. We’re not sure what’s going on, we can hear her eating her regular food sometimes. Maybe it’s partly an appetite problem. We’ve been relying on her automatic feeder but will have a manual feeding plan and watch closely.

    Hello. This is my first post. Our senior cat has kidney disease and dental problems which make it painful for her to chew. She was raised exclusively on dry food by her previous owner. We tried transitioning her to wet prescription kidney food but she doesn’t seem to understand how to eat it...
