Question from a fairly new cat parent

I give him temptations and freeze dried chicken breasts pieces. Should I buy some of that good good just for these occasions?

Question from a fairly new cat parent

We haven't done any actual tests for it. When he had it, I pretty much singled it out to the beef in his food. The reaction he had produced lesions on his ear and face, he hasn't had it ever since since I've eliminated beef from his diet other than general scratches all over as the weather gets...

Question from a fairly new cat parent

Yea he's almost 10 years old so it makes sense that it would take him longer to forgive. So let him come to me, move slow, give space, get down to his level. Got it! Thank you!

Question from a fairly new cat parent

Ok, I'll try the box near his litter box. I've been nudging him out the box so I'll just let him hide there for now. For the brush, I went out and bought a kids soft brush specifically for brushing his acne. I don't do it with much force, just a gentle circular motion. I clean and change his...

Question from a fairly new cat parent

Thank you for replying! He eats out of a stainless steel bowl and drinks from a ceramic. Makes me feel better that you and your kittens went thru something similar. How did you regain your kittens trust after the issue was resolved?

Question from a fairly new cat parent

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing great and finding some peace in these uncertain times. Caleb has been in my life for almost 4 months now. I wish I can say that it's been smooth sailings the whole time but it's not, which I very hesitantly accepted. He's had allergies, surgery and now chin...

    Is this normal cat behavior?

Yea I actually count how many strokes I give Caleb along his spine. There were a few instances where I've touched him on the side of the body and it triggered an episode. What I seem to notice is that using a bristle brush helps reduce the length of the episode. Every time he gets an episode now...

    Is this normal cat behavior?

I agree that it depends on stimulation. It's not consistent but there are days when it doesn't happen at all. I've had him for 3 months now and I have a feeling that it was related to the stress of being in an new environment. So glad that it doesn't affect your feeby! Its so hard to fight the...

    Is this normal cat behavior?

You're probably right. Do you do anything for feeby's hyperesthesia?

    Is this normal cat behavior?

He's gonna be 10 in July. He's been doing it since I adopted him. I forgot to add that most times, he would lick his food then scurry away with his back muscles and paws twitching. I've looked up these symptoms and narrowed it down to feline hyperesthesia, kidney disease or a neurological...

    Is this normal cat behavior?

I worry about that because I don't want there to be an underlying issue for the constant pauses in feeding. I thought if I could find someone else with the same thing that's it's just normal feeding behavior. Thank you for your insight!

    Is this normal cat behavior?

Caleb takes a few hours to eat his meals. He has no teeth on his upper jaw but still has most in the lower jaw. I feed him mostly wet food; he takes frequent breaks. He'll lick for a couple minutes, groom. Lick, groom. Repeat until gone. Your thoughts are appreciated 🙏

Leaving or taking away hiding spots

Leaving or taking away hiding spots

Sorry for the confusion. There's an area between my mattress and a corner he hides in. I have no frame so there is no under the bed. I don't block off my bedroom, it's always available. Only the entrance into the apartment has a heavy door. The sound of the fire doors from the other apartment...

Leaving or taking away hiding spots

Thanks for the replies! I've had caleb for about 3 months. I live in an apartment with fairly thin walls and you can hear doors closed. The doors are also fire doors so they're heavy and they're all self closing. He mainly hides in my bedroom from 7am-3pm. After that, he comes out to hangout in...

Leaving or taking away hiding spots

Hello y'all! I've search all over the internet for this question and I can't seem to get an answer. It's rather simple. Do I have hiding spots available for Caleb or do I block off all of them so he has no place to hide?

He stopped playing after the reaction..

Thank you both for your replies. The vet didn't see any ear infections. I asked to specifically check for ear mites and t came back negative. Caleb grooms himself after each eating session and he uses a considerable amount of pawing when grooming his face, which leads me to think that his face is...

He stopped playing after the reaction..

Thank you! He is isn't he? And yes, that's the wet food. I did order Halo Pot's Stew Chicken after this whole ordeal as to eliminate the artificial flavoring Hoping it was beef and that as allergens. If that doesn't work, I'm trying Merrick and instinct. This is my first cat so I have no clue...

He stopped playing after the reaction..

Hi everyone! First timer here and first thread. Hope everyone is doing great! I adopted Caleb(10 years old)around the end of January this year and have only regretted to not do it sooner! He's my first cat and i have learned so much about cats the past few months. The first 2 months were very...
