Yes, the vet's more specific wording (and I've seen this reported elsewhere) Is that they associate the box with pain or discomfort and start to go outside the box as a result. If the problem is solved quickly, they begin to think that peeing on carpets and elsewhere is acceptable. I've read...
okay, the vet doesn't think it's medical. Here suggests that since she had a UTI and had been going outside the box for a week or 2 that she need to be "re-trained" to litter boxes. Does anyone have any tips for that? His advice was to lock her in a bathroom with a litter box but he was...
Hello, We have a roughly 8.5 month old kitten that has taken to peeing occasionally outside the litter box. Some background info...we found this litte one outside our house in July and have raised her since she was about 1.5 weeks old. We have 2 older females that have been in the house for...
Vet said kitten looked great, didn't see any problem with the 50/50 KMR blend. He did give a de-worming regimen and said that the bowel problems and bleeding could be worms (she was born outside to a stray). Overall, good visit, kitten is almost up to 1lb.
Soo...today after about 5 days of the 50/50 dry/liquid KMR mix, we finally have a 'normal' kitten poop. Formed...a little soft (like toothpaste) and a lot of it. Problem is it started with some tiny blood spots and ended with some blood spots. Not sure if its just irritation at is backside or...
Update...kitten is usually 'chomping' down this 50/50 KMR liquid/dry blend. It's up to about 380g, still has runny poo but not really diarrhea, goes about twice a day. We would still like to get on to all dry KMR.
Straight pasteurized goats milk? It's all I can find at the store here...says ultra pasteurized. Should we add anything to it....yogurt etc... It seems to like the mix of dry and liquid kmr....not sure yet about how its gut will respond.
So our new development....we began mixing the liquid kmr with the reconstituted and weened kitten back to the dry formula 100% with a few drops of olive oil in each bottle. Now she seems to have developed a taste for the liquid formula. She had been 12-15ml of the mixed stuff now that we're...
So far so good, kitten is eating between 11-15ml every 3 hours and no runny poop since 8am this morning. We're still mixing about 10ml of liquid KMR with 10ml of the reconstituted powder. Purring, wiggling around and sleeping with its belly to the sky. Just wish we knew where the mama took its...
Kitten seems to eat almost all of 16ml bottle we've been giving the last couple of feedings, still about 3 hours apart. Still some runny poo but about 14 hours apart. Going to have her switched to all dry kmr by end of day, hopefully that helps with the runs. How do we know when is best to...
Yes...may have to do that...everyone sees the claws and thinks we have taken in a bear cub...lol Good news is the diarrhea seems to have subsided, could be mixing the dry formula back in with the liquid...yay
Arrghh...we will up the amount in the bottle and let it go to town....we've been following the feeding charts we found religiously and trying not to overfeed...here is a pic of the little thing relaxing after a meal...
We're actually guessing that it's around 2.5 weeks or so...eyes began opening on 8/4 or 8/5 and ears are still a little folded over. It's been gaining about 15-18g per day. We started cutting the liquid KMR 50/50 with the powdered for a few feeding to switch it back to powdered, then I'll add...
Kitten still seems hungry, today we were going to with 13mL until the diarrhea. We're never sure if we should limit it to the 10-15ml that most feeding charts recommend or feed until it is full. Our normal routine is to pour the measured amount in the bottle and when it's gone, its gone...
So, we have an approximately 3 week old kitten. When we found it, it had maybe 1 solid poop. We started off feeding it pre-made liquid KMR, after about 1-2 days, it started having runny poop. For no reason other than we ran out of the pre-mixed liquid KMR, we switched to powdered KMR...began...
...and....last night we read that a lot of kittens get bound up with the powder. Did a little reading and switched back to canned liquid and began adding 3 drops olive oil....and apparently at its 2am feeding...poop...glorious poop! The will monitor how it does on the liquid...maybe mixing in...
