Hi All!
I've posted in the past about my 9(ish) year old tortie named Otter. I rescued her about two years ago as an adult, so I'm not sure exactly how old she is. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has ever experienced something similar with their cats. Otter has recently (probably within the...
Thank you so much for your advice!! I am bringing him in tomorrow morning and I am going to voice my concern about the 2x per day recommendation. I am actually swabbing the lime sulfur on using cotton pads but it is soaking the affected areas pretty thoroughly- I'm not doing a full dip because...
Yes, I double checked for this exact reason! They printed the label and it says "twice daily". I even called and they reiterated over the phone that it should be twice daily. I haven't been doing that because his skin looks pretty raw and I don't want to put chemicals on freshly healing skin.
Hi Cat Community!
First, thank you for reading this post. I have scoured the internet for information about lime sulfur for treating ringworm, but knew I would get the best responses from this website. My 8 week old kitten has ringworm (I discovered this once I found the tell tale rash on...
Hi Kittyluv!
Thank you so much for your advice. My current cat is already vaccinated, and has tested negative for FELV consistently. I will heed your advice and wait a while before introducing them. Thanks for the tip that it's not contagious if not being expressed- I didn't know this! Will...
Hi denice,
Thank you so much for your response! I will definitely be cautious and keep the kitty separated from my adult cat (who consistently tests negative for FELV). Thanks!
Hi! I would reach out to your primary veterinarian. My cat had a bout of constipation and she was given an enema, and then a laxative I administered for a few days to get her back to normal. No issues since then, but it was due to a diet change. I have since switched her back to her old food. I...
Hi There!
I wanted to reach out to the Catsite community because everyone has always been so helpful and kind. I recently adopted a kitten (approximately 8 weeks old) from a rescue. He is an orphan, and was shipped with several other kittens from a kill shelter down South. On Monday, he tested...
Hi Everyone!
I haven't posted since my 8/9ish year old tortie named Otter was diagnosed with a lipoma (fatty tumor). Age range is up for debate as we adopted her roughly a year ago, and the shelter was iffy about her age. Anyway, I noticed when we first got her that she would cough/wheeze...
Hi everyone who commented!
I just wanted to give you the update- the vet called today about the aspiration results and the lump was diagnosed as a lipoma (benign fatty tumor). This is the best case scenario and she said we could do more tests to see if it needs to be removed (they are uncommon...
I tried the raw food diet as well- transferred my adult cat over slowly and always added water (they were freeze dried raw bits that needed a little rehydration). My cat's stool turned sort of a greyish color and then she stopped going altogether for 3 days. Had to bring her to the animal ER...
Agreed- I was giving my cat Stella & Chewy freeze dried raw diet for a while and she got constipated due to the high bone content/percentage (which is NOT advertised on the package). Took her off the raw diet after this incident.
Hi di and bob! Thank you so much for your information. I read online that fatty tumors are less common in cats than dogs and IMMEDIATELY freaked out. However, I now think that is just relative as almost all dogs get at least one fatty tumor in their lives! My family dog has many- but after...
Hi Antonio65! Thank you for your response. It is so helpful to hear from others who have experienced something similar with their cats during this wait period.
The mass is not visible (it is not deeply attached internally however- the vet called it "superficial"). It is so movable/kinda...
Hi Marget! Thank you SO much for the warm welcome! I'm very excited about joining this community- I don't know too many people with cats (everyone seems to have dogs), and it is so helpful to know there are so many people who care about their kitty/kitties as much as I do. Thank you again for...
Hi Jem! Thank you for your optimistic words- and I'm so glad your friend's dog's lump turned out to be harmless! Otter (my cat with the lump) is acting perfectly normal; eating, drinking, playing, and using the litter box regularly. I am hoping for the best and will post when I hear the news!
Hi everyone!
I recently noticed a lump on my 5-10 year old tortie's left flank (age is not exact because I rescued her from a shelter about a year ago, and they weren't sure of her age). I brought her to her primary care vet who did not find anything. I still felt like there was something...
