New cat fighting and drawing blood

That makes sense and I think everyone is probably right. I guess I'm extra worried because the cat that was injured, Jack, is already blind in one eye after being born to a mother with feline herpes. His new injury is right near his good eye, and on top of a long scratch, he is missing a patch...

2 year old cat suddenly started pooping RIGHT outside litterbox

One of our cats started doing the same thing a couple of years ago - pooping right outside the box. The vet suggested she might have had a painful poop and was associating it with the box. It lasted quite a while - months -but she finally started going in the box again.

New cat fighting and drawing blood

We are a 5 cat household - including a feral that we brought in the house 2 years ago with advice from this site! After feeding another cat outside for over a year, we trapped him and discovered at the vet's that he is around 5 years old and has been previously neutered and is healthy. We...

New Feral Cat Owners! Need Support!

HUGE breakthrough today! I went down to sit with Lucy today with my computer. I have been sitting right up next to the crate for the last few days. I put my hand on the counter next to the crate as I have also done for the last couple of days. She started moving around in her box and stretching...

New Feral Cat Owners! Need Support!

Thanks for the encouragement! If they had a really, really tall one it might work, but we have our kitchen and dining area gated with the swing doors to keep our dogs contained when we're not home. Our cats jump over the gates like they aren't even there!

New Feral Cat Owners! Need Support!

Very nervous as we are bringing Lucy upstairs tomorrow. We have the room she is going in cat-proofed and ready. We've taken our time because we did have 2 litter boxes in there and it was where we fed our other 4 cats, so as I've moved everything out I've given those cats time to adjust. I've...

New Feral Cat Owners! Need Support!

Thank you for your help - yes, I will get down on the floor and check to see if there is any place she could get into and cause problems. There isn't much furniture in there - just a desk and 2 pinball machines and a bookcase. That's also a good idea to leave the cage in there for a while. It...

New Feral Cat Owners! Need Support!

Good news! My husband decided he should share his computer room with Lucy, so we're getting it ready to bring her up from the basement - first in her crate for a day or two in the computer room and then we'll open the door to the crate and have her in her safe room. I'm feeling very optimistic...

    Help And Commiseration Needed

She's in our nice warm basement and I've been trying to spend a couple of hours with her each day. The basement has drop ceilings and a raised floor so we can't let her out down there or I'm sure we'd lose her. Upstairs we have 4 cats and 7 dogs - all but 2 are rescues - and we thought we should...

New Feral Cat Owners! Need Support!

Great idea - thanks! I just found them on Amazon and am ordering the chicken and fish to try. I can fit one end through the crate near her box and still keep my hands safe, too!

    Help And Commiseration Needed

Commiserating with you! We've had our little orange feral cat home with us for 2 weeks and 3 days now. We fed her for about a week outside before we trapped her and had her spayed and tested and she got her shots. Had to laught when you mentioned the booster shot. We've in the same boat! She is...
