    Depo-medrol in a diabetic/CKD cat

For your former feral, I would ask about an inhaler for cats.

    Wheezing Attack

There is nothing in AeroKat. AeroKat is a tool to help you use an inhaler with your cat. If you google it, you can see what it does. Otherwise it would be difficult to get a cat to use an inhaler.

Cat Asthma Cheapest Fluticasone Propionate Formally was Flovent Also a CKD question

Yes to this! Inhalers from outside the US are much cheaper. I've often found that brand-name inhalers are about the same price as generics but prices can vary a lot. If you need an inhaler quickly, you could check GoodRx to see how much that might discount the inhaler. Arrival time from other...

    Depo-medrol in a diabetic/CKD cat

Yes, he has an Aerokat inhaler and albuterol for episodes between Depo shots. Poor guy has food allergies, dermatitis, asthma, environmental allergies...he has all of his teeth out due to severe stomatitis, and clearly, he has an overactive immune system. The Depo was controlling his dermatitis...

    Wheezing Attack

...It sort of seems like the coughing my girl does when she has an asthma attack, but not exactly what she does. We now give her a puff of an inhaler twice a day (12 hours apart). We use the little kitty inhaler spacer by AeroKat. The inhalers are very expensive, so I order them from a Canadian...

Wheezing cat. Is it a hairball? Coughing?

Coming in late here but so glad to hear the vet is going for the inhaler, too! Our vet is big on them for prevention even in minor cases, which is what Ireland has. She has been on fluticasone (aka flixotide) since early 2020. She doesn't love it (some cats allegedly do) but she accepts it. And...

    Treats in a Squeeze Package

My cat LOVES the Delectables. It’s the only way I was able to train her on her inhaler. She gets one twice a day, after she takes the inhaler. The vet says it’s ok to give her the treats as a reward. Of course, in Tessa’s case getting her to use the inhaler is critical. So the pros definitely...

Wheezing cat. Is it a hairball? Coughing?

Heard from my old vet. Reaching out to current to let them know I want to try inhaler after this 2 weeks is up. From vet: “Hi, so the general protocol for asthma in cats is 2 weeks of oral steroids to build up steady state in their system while getting them started on the inhaler within the...

Wheezing cat. Is it a hairball? Coughing?

Hi there! My Tessa has severe asthma. She gets her inhaler at least twice a day. (When those wildfires were making our air quality so awful, she was so bad she needed several doses of her albuterol as well). I’m thankful she uses her inhaler, I’m sure it saved her life. It took Tessa about 3...

Wheezing cat. Is it a hairball? Coughing?

Thanks! I put some Churu on the mask and he licked it off. He is very food motivated. I figure I'll just keep doing that. Do you push the inhaler when it's on his face? I saw a lady on youtube put her hand up against the mask to block it, spray it, then put it on the cat's face. Does that work...

    Asthmatic flareup (new member)

I so agree about getting your cat started on a fluticasone/flixotide preventive inhaler! And to have an albuterol rescue inhaler on hand. The AeroKat makes it relatively easy to "puff" your cat. Yes, it's possible to get the inhalers much cheaper through online pharmacies. One of the huge...

Wheezing cat. Is it a hairball? Coughing?

Vet is on board with trying inhaler! I’m so glad. I don’t like arguing with doctors and switching is even more stressful.

Ashtma inhaler puff every 12 hours? Best time to give to cat

So my baby has Ashtma and we need to use the inhaler Med on her. Instructions are 1 puff every 12 hours. My brain can’t math so when are the best times? I work M-F and have to leave by 6:30am and get home till 5:20pm. Occasionally my husband is home depending on schedule.

How long it took you to train your asthmatic cat to use Inhaler?

...about a few weeks now. I’ve been cleaning, vacuuming, have air purifier running and changed to a low dust no scent litter. I finally got the inhaler and now starting to train her slowly. I just get worried I’m going slow wasting time and worried she’s not getting her meds. I also don’t want...

Wheezing cat. Is it a hairball? Coughing?

It's interesting: I thought @Susanna72 meant pushing the inhaler to release the medicine! But your interpretation is totally valid, too. In any case, I agree: don't press/push the mask. I like to hold it right at Ireland's nose, supporting it so I don't have to press it into her nose. I...

How long it took you to train your asthmatic cat to use Inhaler?

While he was on an injection for asthma, I started giving my cat treats & laying the inhaler next to them. Then worked on positioning him between my legs while doing that, then holding the inhaler up next to his face, next activating the inhaler, etc. He was on the inhaler daily for 10 years, &...

My Cat Has Been “Gagging or Hacking” for past 4 days

...attack. I’m not saying your kitty has asthma, but I’d definitely ask. The prednisone may very well help if it is asthma. Tessa needs an inhaler but maybe your kitty is just having an acute issue. So glad you took him to the vet and I hope the meds help and he feels better soon. Awesome that...

How to control wheezing attacks ?

You need to talk to your vet about getting the aero cat inhaler and the cat version of albuterol. This is good for an attack. Also see about getting a rescue injection of terbutaline in case of a bad attack.
