Cat is doing something funny - constipated?

In the last 6 months, this is the 3rd time it’s happened so thankfully it’s not frequent. the first 2 times it happened she was eating a bit of dry food (iams urinary - 1/2 cup a day split between the 2 cats plus wet food). I have a male cat so I wanted to make sure there was no urinary issues...

    My cat keeps pissing everywhere

I would get him checked out by the vet just to rule out any health problems. Is he the Manx? You probably already know, but they are more susceptible to urinary issues than say, DSH cats. Though I've had two male cats (one DLH with a severe UTI treated antibiotics and my DSH, Oscar, who had...

    Blocked male cat/urinary problems.

Hi there, I know there are quite a few threads on this matter but I have a couple questions. I have a 7 year old male flame point ragdoll. 2 years ago shortly after our move into a new home my cat got blocked for the first time. Unfortunately we were out of town and the friend watching him did...

Very fussy cat with allergies, what should I feed him

OK, your meat comments threw me off, I guess you meant “meaty food”, but there is definitely meat(chicken) in the Royal Canin Urinary SO, so he is getting meat/protein, so that’s good. I thought you meant he wouldn’t eat anything with meat at all and were looking for food without meat...

    Bridge of nose cracking

Agree with @Cat McCannon send this photo to your vet and have him seen. Re:wet food. A lick mat solves the problem of scarfing or feeding smaller portions at a time. At least one portion of wet food with extra water per day is especially vital for preventing urinary issues in male cats.

Tumbles' Chronic GI & Urinary Issues (Timeline, long)

My kitty, Tumbles is a 13 yo neutered male. (You can read his rescue story here: OMG! Just did a dramatic rescue...was almost a "bridge report" ) He currently eats Purina EN (wet) and Royal Canin Gastrointestinal (dry). He also gets twice daily s. boulardii and Adored Beast Gut Soothe. In May...

    Cat pees and poops everywhere

There's a possibility she smells another cat in a different apartment and it's making her uncomfortable, be it through the vents or under the doors. I once lived in a house as a roommate with another person who had cats in another part of the house, and all because my male could smell them...

Sardines for a treat - male cat

Hello, I wanted to see if adding oily fish to Buddy's diet might help with his constipation. It is under control with 1/4 tspn Miralax per day, but I would love to reduce the amount if possible (or eliminate it). I have tried probiotics and they made no difference. Buddy gets mostly canned...

    Oxalate Bladder Stones?

Hi all, I'm posting on behalf of my parents. I'll say upfront, my mother has mental health issues and is very attached to her cat, Tiger. My dad does not care for animals and will not spend anything over $50 for a Vet Service. This is key to the situation. :rolleyes3: Tiger is a 7 yr old...

    Bit of a mystery

My 20 lb male cat of 14 years with no prior health issues had a wet belly and was leaving behind puddles of water wherever he'd sit. The cat was urinating in his litter box and the puddles were odorless and did not smell like pee. To me it seemed like the cat was leaking through his gut. The...

    Feral Cat UTI

One of them I have gotten tame enough to pet her and she hangs out on my porch. As soon as I can bring her in i'm sure she will calm down a lot. I'm going to get her scanned and on a rescue. She is not aggressive, just scared.I have 4of my own and have to make sure I can keep separate. Been...

hey yall! firstly, i have 10+ years experience working with/owning cats. I'm more well versed on animal nutrition, health and behavior than the average person but I'm still at a loss with my cat. 10 Year Old Cat with Urinary Issues - Vet Says Nothing is Wrong

I just replied to another post regarding urinary stoppage so am repeating here. My chiropractor recommended probiotics to people with urinary/bladder problems so I looked into probiotics for cats and found one at theholistichorse.com . It is a powder so I mixed in their wet food. Since my...

    Urinary care dry food

My 12-year-old male Cappy just had annual blood work and urinalysis and struvite crystals were found. I started him on Royal Canin Urinary SO a few days ago. He is a dry food junkie. Here's my concern: All my cats eat Dr. Elsey's clean protein chicken or turkey dry food. It started when my...

    Experience with fluoxetine?

This is a tough question, and it all depends on your cat and situation. Short answer is that yes, I have seen Fluoxetine (Prozac) used to treat, usually aggression, in cats before. with varied results, usually good. Of course, nothing is without side effects as you know. And unfortunately, or...

    Kitten always hungry

He has two bowls away from his food with clean water. I’d rather not give him dry kibble as I’ve had problems in the past with that contributing to urinary tract issues in male cats. I was able to keep one cats UTI problems under control by feeding only wet food after he was diagnosed. I will...

Food Change & Hairball causing havoc?

Hi....me again I firstly want to apologize - i only seem to come here when i am having issues with my cats and feeling alone in dealing with them. I look at others' concerns, but I just feel so overwhelmed by my apparent lack of knowledge and confidence in these matters. I have had sooooo may...

Senior Cat (Male neutered 18 years)

Hi, Rebecca. My old Tonk is an 18-yo neutered male, too. Like yours, he's developed new, troubling behavior. One, he has begun refusing to drink even fresh, filtered water from anything. e.g, mug, bowl, pasta plate, However, by sitting/lying in the bathtub for hours, he finally got it through my...

First time kitten owner... scared! Food and drink

@Furballsmom has a great suggestion. Cats do not always drink from that spot while eating. My cat sleeps in the living room then occasionally gets up for water in the living room. Doesn't walk back to the kitchen. Also sleeps with me so water is there also. Canned food, churu tubes, and tiki stick...

Male and female cats cant share the same litter box?

I have never heard of that, and I've had cats for nearly 40 years, if male and female cats can't share a litter box it would be more common knowledge since a lot of people have male and female cats myself included. I'm not even sure how you would prevent one from using the other's litter box...
