You need to take the kitten to the vet right now.
A brokenjaw is extremely painful, it won't heal on it's own. The kitten will need surgery to realign and reattach his jaw and will need to be fed by feeding tube while this is done.
Please don't wait any longer. Take the kitten to your nearest vet
...be internal damage to her organs that you can't see. Extremly common with vehicular accidents. Only a vet will be able to determine this, they are trained to feel for these abnormalities.
A brokenjaw will need to be reset and reconstructed, this is not a procidure you can just do by yourself.
Please get this kitten to a vet. It is truly amazing that you have kept this kitten alive! But if its jaw is really broken this kitten cannot continue to prosper without help. God bless you for helping thus far, and may you continue to give it assistance with some vet care.
...care to help this kitten recover, the most humane thing to do would be to take her to a shelter and ask them to euthanise her. A brokenjaw is going to be absolutely agonizing, and she will probably have internal injuries as well.
If she doesn't get medical care she is going to be in so much...
That is absolutely awful to hear. I know her jaw must be in a lot of pain, so I merely applied sugar water to her lips (no pressure). I advised we should seek professional help for her, but my family will not pay the bills. However, now that I know others may help pay for the expenses, I will...
Our cat Lucy is 14 and has had regular healthy checkups. Last summer we noticed she was having trouble holding food in her mouth when she ate, so we brought her to the vet who found she had broken her lower jaw. We think she was running around and ran into something. She plays hard for a cat her...
...antibiotic and the bump disappeared.
Willow's jaw also started to move to one side making it even harder to eat and drink. Fractured or brokenjaw bone I understand is common and can be dealt with when diagnosed by dental xray equipment---To my chagrin...the operating dentist did not have...
...we tried to comfort it as much as possible. However, it is still alive. We wanted to feed it diluted soft food, but it appears to have a brokenjaw, so feeding it is difficult. Also, its eyes and nostrils accumulated dried blood. Upon using a warm washcloth to clean the areas, I noticed what...
...of Chocolate, was hit by a car two months ago and wound up on my sidewalk, which is how I ended up with him. At the time, he had a brokenjaw and head trauma and was in such bad shape the vets didn't think he would make it. I was told of the possibility of a diaphragmatic hernia then. If...
Last Night my cat chomped on a Greenie and I heard the loudest crack .
First thing I thought was she broke a tooth cracking that treat open.
Everymorning ,as a routine, she wakes me up pestering me for the greenie Bag (which she doesn't get before breakfast, btw)
But today I gave her her...
I agree with @CatladyJan, that cat seems to have a broken or dislocated jaw.
In my opinion, that black oaround mouth and chin is his saliva from not being able to keep his mouth completely shut. The drooling sticks to his fur around mouth, chin and nose, attracts bacteria and dust.
That poor...
As others have stated the pictures are not real clear. Somethings that appear to me via computer is the tongue seems to be hanging out? Does this kitten have a brokenjaw? The kitten also appears to be malnourished. If you are able, please seek veterinary assistance.
My Stellar (14 years) mysteriously started drinking more water and eating less. Finally, not hardly eating at all. Two rounds of all types of testing yielded no clues. I insisted on a dental as a last resort even though my vet said she had a dental only 2 years ago and she saw no evidence of...
...abscess on his paw, a pretty bad nasal/eye infection and was very dehydrated. The vet suspected that he was hit by a car which caused the brokenjaw and abscess.
He got IV fluids, a long-acting antibiotic shot, they treated his abscess and did surgery on his jaw. We also got him shots and...
While I did not experience it directly, a friend of mine took on the care of a stray who was hit by a car and also had a brokenjaw. I can't recall if the cat had a broken leg that they set or if it was eventually amputated. I do know that the cat was not released from the vets to my friend for...
...safe food environment along with safe food handling methods and procedures, the cat should be fine as will yourself.
My thought about the brokenjaw situation is that the owner gave pieces that were too big.
There are pre-mixes that have all the minerals and other nutrients. Even if you...
hi, my 10 y/o cat Lola suddenly developed a swelling on the right side of her neck/jaw. I didn't even noticed this. She is otherwise very healthy, got a clean bill of health from her vet this February. She is strictly indoor and alpha cat. On Wednesday 11/15/23 i noticed that she did not greet...
Our Desmond was also crushed by a car. As a kitten before we adopted him. He had a badly broken rear leg, but fortunately a great rescue organization got him the extensive surgery he need and then a really kind forster family nursed him back to health (while he was in one of those external...
...on this site, and I thought you might be interested in an update. Things did NOT go as expected with this cat.
The cat had to get his brokenjaw wired. He was scheduled to get the wire removed in early February. He was a completely feral adult cat (ran away from people, ect). We knew we had...
Vet costs for the first year, for me, usually are in the $800-1,000 range. That's for all first year shots, check ups, spay and neuter, blood work for baseline, etc. After that about $100-300 a year for annual with the variance depending on whatever vaccine is needed that year and if its a blood...
