...with the internal medicine doctor. Nothing has been seen on X-ray so I am waiting for the CT scan. Has anyone had a kitty with chronicrhinitis with facial asymmetry? The differential diagnosis is a nasal mass, although I am praying it is not cancer, I am aware at her age a mass is a...
Here are the results of a search done for chronicrhinitis. Hopefully there are things that would be able to help

When is the appointment with the internal medicine vet? Is a date already been set for the ct?
Sorry for all the questions. This has been going on for 8 weeks with no improvement from antibiotics. The only thing that gives her any relief is steroids. Is this typical with chronicrhinitis?
I wouldn't use the Diatomaceous earth. I had a cat that developed chronicrhinitis after I used it. If you look at it carefully under a microscope you see that it is tiny little crystals with sharp points. If a cat inhales them, it is bad. I know allot of people use it without incident, but I...
My vet believes Almond has a nasal mass. I have been hoping and praying this could be chronicrhinitis or feline herpes virus and that her symptoms could be managed, but her vet is insistent she has a nasal mass. If anyone has any experience with a cat with a nasal mass I would appreciate your...
Hi all,
my almost 2 yr old kitty has had chronicrhinitis and mycoplasma infection since birth, went through several antibiotics and antiviral treatment/nasal drop/etc but the symptoms always went back after few weeks. Her vet now recommended us to see an internist at MedVet Chicago to have a...
Hi. Skull films on a cat are usually not helpful in seeing a mass. That is why a CT scan is the gold standard. That being said, I didn’t do a CT scan on my own cat who had chronicrhinitis. I didn’t want to put him through it.
Yes, steroids can be given long term.
...She agreed the Kenalog has worn off and Almond is getting another Kenalog injection this evening. I wish she would be a bit more open to the possibility of chronicrhinitis. Hopefully the feline vet will be able to get her in quickly for an appointment. Thank you again for all your kind...
...and treatments. If you think you are in over your head, nobody could fault you for whatever decision you make.
I have had a cat with chronicrhinitis and the only thing that helped him was steroids. That was a long time ago.
More recently a cat with chronicrhinitis was anesthetized and...
I am just ending a 7 month long chronicrhinitis saga with my 12 year old male cat. Was the vet not able to check for masses / x ray etc while she was getting the flush?
Mine had biopsies, xrays, blood tests, antibiotics, steroids, etc nothing really helped or cleared it. In the end he has...
...more recently she has been eating Fresh Pet chicken. Her vet is saying she has cancer, despite normal X-rays. I asked if it could be chronicrhinitis and the vet said no. I asked if it could be a polyp, again told no. My cat, like yours, has long ropey snot. Did his symptoms seem to appear...
Thank you for your response. While doing the nasal flush she told me there was copious amounts of ropey snot but there was resistance in the left nostril. They did X-rays while she was under anesthesia and nothing was seen. Almond’s congestion returned quickly after the nasal flush. The PCR from...
...despite the negative X-rays her vet was highly suspicious of a nasal mass. I searched online for months, hoping and praying it was ChronicRhinitis. The steroids were no longer helping her so I made an appointment with an integrative vet who examined her and she was given acupuncture. Almond...
...and suspected teeth. A few months later the same vet did not think so anymore. That vet also said basically some cats have chronicrhinitis for life, nothing can really do but antibiotics sometimes. So I tried a new vet. I did notice one nostril would consistently get more crusted / have more...
...but it's so hard to know for sure!
1. He had rhinitis as a kitten (more presented as a runny nose and sneezing) but the vet did say chronicrhinitis sometimes never fully goes away. Could this be a new 'variant' of the rhinitis appearing 2 years later?
2. His RBC has been consistently low...
If she had herpes as a kitten I believe she would still have herpes now. That is a big difference between our cats - mine has consistently tested negative for herpes and never had any symptoms like this his entire life (adopted as a kitten). I think cats with herpes can end up with flare ups...
...complication there could be...
Musiaka has some breathing issues, his nose is often filled with mucus from what another vet described is a chronicrhinitis, possibly from not getting a shot against it early in his life (he came to me like that).
Could that be a fatal thing during anesthesia??
