Never having had a cat with either IBD or SCL, unfortunately I cannot answer your questions, but until someone comes along who might have those answers, I did do a search on "IBD or SCL" and here are the results: Search Results for Query: IBD or SCL It seems many people have cats that may or...
The only way to definitively check for SCL is via biopsy which is a surgical procedure. If there are no nodules or things like that found in the US, then its most likely NOT SCL. When we had the US done on our kitty, the vet saw no enlarged lymph nodes, pancreas, spleen, gall bladder, bladder or...
...nodes but no masses, based on his general health (no lethargy or unexplained weight loss) the radiologist tends towards IBD but can't exclude SCL. So, we excluded a mass, but are facing potential SCL. I'm thinking of going to internal medicine directly to get him the proper care but they...
That he had vomiting issues... it may have led to an earlier diagnosis of IBD and not turn into SCL... But, then again, I probably would not have adopted him.
I am so sad to hear of Geoffrey"s SCL diagnosis. My orange tabby was ok until 17. Unfortunately or maybe not we don't have a clue what they or us will get. I am hoping for the best for Geoffrey. I will be thinking of you both.
Most of the information I would have added has been posted. My Chelsea had SCL and was on pred and chlorambucil with little problem. I understand about pet insurance. My two year old boy maxed out his policy a few months ago, not from SCL, and we have some time to go before the renewal period...
...with nothing showing on the pancreas but with his levels so high there is really no way there is not something there.
Since here is a chance of SCL we are holding off on the pred. Pred I know makes SCL (small cell lymphoma) results become inaccurate as long as SCL is in the mix - we wait in...
With my cat, the SCL was diagnosed via ultrasound. She wasn’t a good anesthesia candidate. She has been on Chlorambucil and Prednisolone since 2021, I think. The ultrasound showed a space occupying lesion in the intestines. I had it repeated a year later I think. This last visit I didn’t do it...
I have posted about my sweet Orange before. He was "diagnosed" back in March of 2023 with possible IBD or possible SCL. The ultrasound doctor (forgive my lack of correct medical terminology) said it was "consistent with IBD" but that we couldn't rule out SCL without a biopsy. We chose not to do...
Chelsea, the FHS/SCL cat that I had to purrito, did not have any reaction aside from the complete indignation that goes with someone doing something that they don't want done. Your theory about his association with the food and dosing could be correct though. It does seem that if this were a...
...too)) - and found nothing about weaning/tapering Budesonide. I am thinking you might have some success on one of the forums related to IBD and/or SCL in cats since the members are more focused on treatments for these conditions.

...wellness and "wonderful life" phases. I prefer this to constant chemo and steroids because of their side effects.
It's my first time treating SCL so we'll see if things pan out that way, but so far I'm almost using the veterinary medications homeopathically so as to limit their negative side...
My guy has SCL. Every other day chlorambucil, daily Steroid (Budesonide), daily anti-nausea (Zofran), appetite stimulant (Mirataz) on days of chemo. He also has IBD, so no chicken for him -- he seems to be allergic to it. He is on a prescription novel protein diet.
Good luck..❤️🙏
...goes with that, even a non-painful nerve sensation like tingling. I agree that you need to discuss the steroids with the oncologist. I had two SCL cats on pred for a long time and neither became diabetic. Not saying that it does not happen, but sometimes you have to make a choice regarding...
...as ready to go as you can in your case. Hang on and apply the medication.
This video might help. Ignore the fact that they always choose the calmest cat in the universe to film these. There are other YouTube videos as well.
I did successfully give my Chelsea all of her SCL medications...
Hi, my cat is currently on budesonide 1mg/daily for suspected IBD/SCL (no biopsy, just ultrasound showing thickening & enlarged lymph nodes). His only symptom is vomiting and it's well-controlled at this dose. I'm seeking insight on anyone's experiences with weaning or tapering budesonide...
...on chemo and eventually succumbed to kidney failure, not the cancer.
Two weeks after she passed, one of my (I have 4) IBD babes turned to scl of the gi.
She wasn't doing well till I convinced the vet to do just what you said. That I'd read severe IBD can be treated with the chemo...
This was basically our story as well. Chelsea lived for about a year and a half once we started the chlorambucil. She was on pred first as we tried to decide how much testing, if any, we would do, so her duration with the SCL was probably about a year longer.
