I believe there's likely different causes and I remember hearing genetics can play a role. Especially if the cause is stomachitis.
ToothResorption in Cats | VCA Animal Hospitals
Hopefully my cat peaches does not have that again. She won't eat.if it's because of her teeth, would she be able to drink broth? I cannot convince my mom to take me before her appointment Friday. I can walk to wholefoods or walgreens
Just to answer your question about toothresorption and FME, with toothresorption, they only remove the teeth that are being resorped. This is totally different from stomatitis. And FME doesn't always resolve itself with FME, if it's really bad, which doesn't sound like the case with your Peach.
@three4rd, to answer your question about the toothresorption, perhaps this article will help. ToothResorption in Cats | VCA Animal Hospitals It sounds like your cat has Type 2 resorption from the article, which does state that the crowns of the teeth need to be removed. I'm no expert just...
...is, did the Vet pull those teeth that showed evidence of resorption? If not, then there is still a problem. One of my cats has toothresorption, so every year at his dental he comes back with less teeth. Now he only has about six teeth left, and none of them have matching molars to chew...
I took my little girl in yesterday for a dental cleaning. It was her first and her teeth look beautiful but I was told she had toothresorption. I was told that I would have to extract three teeth and this business is probably one of the best in my area, so I trust them. They showed me pictures...
I'm adding. It is possible it could be cancer. I didn't want to scare you but you are a googler too!
I read an article about toothresorption. No known cause. My vet said anesthesia and sedation are different. Don't remember how. It's possible she will be ok after the biopsy
I actually hadcome across that article, but thanks so much for mentioning it. Talked to the vet today and she mentioned that I could consult with more of a vet dental specialist. Have to find out where the closest would be and go from there. She didn't seem to think it an urgent situation but...
My 5 year old cat was recently diagnosed with toothresorption at her annual exam. The vet didn’t seem overly concerned about it because my cat eating and behaving normally and maintaining her weight. The told me that while it was an option to get the tooth pulled, it wasn’t an emergency and...
Sometimes my cat Maggie has no trouble eating in the morning. Other times I have to be there. Possibly because she's in pain my cat peaches had toothresorption done, I read that it could be a disease and need regular x rays. Find out why she bad tooth problem or have a vet check her
My regular vet did her toothresorption. He could tell her gums were red then an xray showed a lesion. I hope to remember some day to at least rub paste on her gums.
Thanks for your responses. This has me wondering what the key distinguishers are between a cat with periodontal disease and/or toothresorption and a cat with stomatitis. The inflammation is currently pretty localized and has never affected her throat, palatte, tongue, cheeks (I know this could...
Hi. Yes, get a second opinion. If she could see lesions on the teeth that would make her think the cat had cavities that are under the gum line, those are very painful and do need to be pulled.
I have posted a link with info below...
Betty is my second cat with toothresorption. I recommend consulting with a dentist/dental specialist. General vets don’t usually take more than one or two classes in dentistry. Enough to clean and pull diseased teeth. But toothresorption, in my opinion, should be evaluated by a specialist who...
