...to send way a more comprehensive test and gave me panacur x 3 days.
I did mention that I'd been giving the kitten probiotics including sboulardii (which he didn't know about) but it didn't occur to me until now that possibly he confused the sboulardii for parasites? Googling hassuggested...
One of my cats had a C Perf. overgrowth with the alpha toxin last year. I was giving him Jarrow SBoulardii for a couple months and then switched to Renew Life SBoulardii after finding out the Jarrow has tapioca starch in it. Cosmos didn't have diarrhea at all, instead the C Perf. was causing...
Aaaaand he just pooped and it was back to normal! Good size, perfectly formed, firm, but still well hydrated. S. Boulardii is a miracle worker!! :worship:
...actually nullify the benefits of many probioticssince they are given to kill bacteria - both bad and good.

Thanks for the rec! So when you say to give a capsule twice a day, does that mean two capsules total? OR does it mean one capsule total, but split it into two doses?
Many antibiotics cause diarrhea due to the fact it kills off both good and bad bacteria in the gut. Most probiotics aren't terribly effective because the antibiotics kills off the bacteria being produced by the probiotics - kind of a vicious cycle. One of the probiotics that works more...
...going to help it work the best. I wouldn't bother with other probiotics yet because you need to scrub out the c. perf which is what the sboulardii will do. S. boulardii has a similar structure as the gut wall. This makes it essentially a decoy gut. The c. perf binds to it and gets flushed...
Hi. It probably wouldn't hurt to just let the vet know you are planning on using s. boulardii. I'd be surprised if they told you not to use it. Some vets will recommend a probiotic when taking antibiotics, but it is often Forti Flora which is a pretty weak probiotic.
S. boulardii is often...
I'm trying to find a S. boulardii product for my cat that he will eat. It seems when you add this particular powder to food it causes a yeast smell which doesn't seem bad to me but my cat basically runs from the food. Anyone have a massively picky cat and found a product that contained S...
...diarrhea and instead was causing blood on his bottom after pooping from the colitis that it caused. He wasn’t able to take the Jarrow SBoulardii with MOSsince it contains tapioca starch. Instead, he got Renew SBoulardii twice a day which ended up being 20 Billion CFU. Cosmos was later put...
I would give the S. Boulardii as long as your cat tolerates it or for at least a month or two after stopping the antibiotics. Antibiotics can really do a number on a cat's gut. Some beneficial bacteria is killed off and some bad actors are spared. Continuing to use the s. boulardii will help...
...bit of an experiment to see what works for your cat, but as I understand it 1/2 capsule is the dose for adult cats. There are more guidelines and helpful tips in this article from How to Use Sboulardii for diarrhea - Raw Feeding for IBD Cats. The data is not just for cats with IBD or raw...
I have no idea why they throw antibiotics (anti-bacterial drugs) against viral infections. You can probably stop that nonsense and just do the s. boulardii. It can take a month or two of at least twice daily dosing to mop all that up. Use their poop rather than the PCR to determine when you are...
