I don't know how to fix this...

So I have Yuki, who is three and MIttens who is 13 - and Binx, the new member, who is 2. We got Binx partly because Yuki (male, neutered) was going after Mittens (neutered Female); this started shortly after we got Yuki, when he was about 5 months old. I hoped he would outgrow this, but he did...

    Damn, damn, damn hairballs!

Hi, cat parents. My 14 year old long haired girl has chronic hairballs. She has had a many a work up, including ultrasounds, and they show nothing. She currently takes 1/4 tsp miralax, proviable, and 1/8 tsp psyllium...and still throws hairballs. No she does not otherwise vomit. Please...

    Best water for cats?

There are probably many posts about this question...but what is the best water for cats? I myself drink Core water but that would be pricey to give to my cats. I have been giving them distilled water in the belief - probably mistaken - that it would reduce the possibiity of stones or urinary...

    Ear question

Hello. Today my cat Binx started holding his ear slightly out to the side. He is not tilting his head and seems otherwise himself; no balance or appetite issues. Earlier today I noticed him scratching the ear a bit. He will not let me near it to look at it. Does this warrant a trip to the vet?

    Peeing behavior..

Hi, cat parents. I have cat who is probably just over a year old. He is in very good health. But. I notice that if I leave anything wet on the floor - bath mat, wet towel - he will pee on it. I have not had him to the vet because I doubt he is ill, his spirits are good, is using his litter...

    Cystitis question

Hi, Friends. Yuki was at the vets for several days. He was running a fever and either has cystitis or a bladder infection. We are waiting for culture results to see if there was bacteria in the urine, which, if present. would explain the fever. But if not, the we are left with the diagnosis...

    Another vaccine question.

Hi, Cat parents. Is there a reason to favor transnasal vaccines over injectable, or injectable over transnasal? The place where I board my cats ( a cats only clinic) does the transnasal vaccines but my regular vet does the injection. I am really on the fence about vaccines in the first place...

    An ear-ry problem...

Hi, cat parents. My new Kitty Binx seems to be holding one of his ears slightly to the side. He is not scratching, no head tilting or shaking, and no balance issues. He was boarded and quarantined for a week before I brought him home (at the vet's) and got a wellness exam, so I am wondering...

    vaccine question(s)

Hi, first I want to state clearly that I am not "anti vax". My cats are all indoor cats and I know rabies is required by law. But what about the panleukopenia, rhino and calici vaccine? is that necessary? One of my former cats had a very bad...problem ..related to a vaccine booster, and I...

Hi, cat parents, we just got a third cat. He is a wonderful little guy, so affectionate! Loves to be held, cuddles, purrs, all is good...I will be petting him nicely, and he is purring away...and then..he bites! I mean, he really hangs on with his teeth and claws! he does not appear to be...

    Food questions...

Hi, cat parents. This may not belong in the Health forum, but I was not sure where to post it. So I have 2 cats who are on KD, a mix of canned mostly with a little dry. I also leave out some dry at night in case they are hungry. I just got a third cat. He will be on a non prescription...

    Potential new kitty..with concerns..?

HI Y'all. Today I was at a local humane society looking at a very sweet boy. He is likely a stray, and was sent to Wisconsin from Oklahoma. Apparently during the long drive, he knawed at his tail, and there is a bald spot there. Should I be concerned about this behavior, or was it likely...

    Y'all I need some input!

So...one of my cats is having a hair ball issue. the other day, after tossing a hefty one, I cleaned up the spot on a large area rug with Woolite Oxy Deep Power shot. I usually use just soap and water to spot clean but I had the product so I used it - on one spot, not even a big spot Ever...

    No contact adoptions...?

Hi, I was not sure where to post this but here goes. I am considering adopting a third cat. There are several rescue groups in my area, so I do have options. But, one group has what they are calling "contact-less adoptions" because of COVID. They say they have volunteers that can match a...

    Ringworm and possible new Kitty...

Hi, Cat Lovers. My husband and I considering adopting a third cat. Because of the pandemic, there are restrictions everywhere, which I understand but the long and short of it is cats go quickly, and there is no "browsing" the local shelters. However, I found a possible kitty with a rescue...

Should I get a third cat?

Catlovers. I have Yuki, who is 2 and Mittens who is 12. Theirs is not a match made in heaven. No one is injured; no blood drawn or fur flying but there is a lot of hissing, spitting and occasionally, a shriek. To be fair, I think its that Yuki may want to play - and Mittens does not. Not...

    Hairball food recs?

Hi, all. I need a recommendation for a canned food that helps hairballs. I see Hills makes one but it has carageenan..a NO for me. Please, no dry food suggestions..to me, if a kitty vomits hairballs...and in Mittens' case, does not drink a lot ...dry food is contraindicated.

    Alarming hairballs

My Mittens - she is 12 - has been throwing up hairballs that are so big that it is alarming. Please do not suggest miralax, catalax, laxatone etc or pumpkin, I have been around the block with this stuff many times. I try to brush her daily but I do not always remember. She was in recently...

would a third cat help? or....?

Hi, Friends. I have Yuki and Mittens. Mittens is 12, a quiet, well behaved girl. Yuki is 2, and he is high spirited, full of beans. Their relationship is NOT a match made in heaven. I had hoped it would improve over time but it has not really. Yuki goes after Mittens - no one is hurt ever...
