The Vacation/holiday Thread!

Here's a picture of my mom and me in Chicago in 2016.

The Cubs won the series that year so these scarecrows were all over. We were actually in a haunted alleyway on a ghost tour when the Cubs clinched the pennant. We knew because we could hear cheering and celebration the moment they won.


This is my mom, me, and my sister in San Francisco in 2017.

Golden Gate Bridge


This is a beach by grandparents' house in Florida. I was visiting my grandpa in March of this year before he died.

And this is me with my hair affected by the humidity and after helping my grandpa with some yard work.

@Mother Dragon TYSVM for sharing those pix with us. Now THAT's my kind of place! My people are from east Texas and so I haven't seen the west part of the state except in pictures. Would love to see it for real some day.

My husband and I do not like to travel far from home. By that, I mean we are never more than two and a half hours away. We went on our two-day honeymoon in Nov 2016 and an overnight anniversary trip Nov 2017. We may go on an anniversary trip this year.

Our honeymoon was spent at the Inn at Brandywine Falls located in Sagamore Hills, Ohio. We rented the Granary, which is a suite disconnected from the main house made from a converted carriage barn. It was a bit rustic but wonderful. The weather was surprisingly warm and lovely for November in Ohio. I was excited because they had two goats that they would let people take on walks to the falls. I did not get to do it because my husband and I took his car and did not think to put my wheelchair in it. I can go short distances with my cane, but, sadly, walking to the falls was beyond my capabilities. I wish I had pictures of it.

For our anniversary, we went to Berlin, Ohio and stayed at Donna's of Berlin in a chalet set back in a wooded area. It was wonderful, and, if we go for a trip this year, it will be back to the chalet. It was very romantic and quiet.

Now this is my kind of thread! My bf and I are leaving for Australia tomorrow! We'll be there until mid October. I'll post pictures when I get back or if I get access to wifi.

But ughhh. I feel so sad for my cats. Especially my Benny because he doesn't like other people. Were leaving our 3 cats at a cat boarding place. They will be well taken care of but it hurts my heart about Benny. It almost makes me want to just be a crazy cat lady and stay home with them from here on out.

Elphaba09 : that sounds lovely - November in Ohio sounds gorgeous.
kittyluv387 : aw, I know what you mean; I often feel bad for Toffee and Fudge whenever we go away. We always leave them at home but have our neighbour come and feed them three times a day, but they hate strangers, even though she should be a familiar face to them now since she has been feeding them when we're not around since they were kittens.

There's nothing whatsoever wrong with staying home with them. I do.

Oh absolutely! I don't have too many interests but traveling happens to be one of them. It really does conflict with my cat mom heart.

Yeah, that would be a difficult call for some. Not for me. My family comes first. No "crazy" in that -- just caring, love, and personal responsibility. I can travel watching films, tv, or the internet. My choice.

I am so incredibly sad about boarding Benny for so long. Can't think about it too much or I'll cry. ><
