I just took in this lil guy yesterday, some of you will recognize from my sex my kitten post. He was found stand alone, I’m guessing wildlife got his siblings :( just outside a farm in the middle of nowhere. They don’t know the parents if it was barn cats from surrounding farms or a dumped litter. He’s super healthy brought back to life before I adopted him.

Domestic tabby? Long hair short hair? Main coon forest cat? I dont know my breeds we also get thick bob cats where he came from but his paws are normal so I dont THINK hes a cross.

He doesnt have his permanent eye color yet I don't think. He can't meow yet but he does make loud eek noises. His fur between his toes and half way down the spine to the butt the fur is longer and completely black like a tiny butt mane lol. We dont know or understand his age either so help there could be handy too. He feels like his back is much more arched theres a definite defined arch half way across the back then your typical kitten too idk if that's a breed thing or a go to the vet thing. But we have a vet apt coming up so I got that covered.

Here's some terrible pictures he is dedicated to eating my fingers off we are working on that so I did my best.

Most cats have no purebred background. It would be strange if there were any free-roaming unneutered Maine Coons wandering around. He may be related to the big shaggy farm cat stock that Maine Coons are descended from, though.

Also there's no such thing as a bobcat/domestic cat cross; they aren't compatible (according to all DNA tests of supposed crosses that biologists have done).

Anyway, I'd say he's a domestic, probably longhaired. . .I can't see his tail but his ears seems to have long furnishings. He'll be gorgeous when he grows up!

I can't speak to his breed, but he is an attractive cat!

Don't let him play with your hands! It may be cute now, but when he is bigger, you will find it painful. Do what mom cats do. hiss at him when he does something hw=e shouldn't. Like play with your fingerts!

He may have behavioral problems as he grows up. Kittens should stay w
ith their moms until they are 12 weeks or so of age. It is during that last part that the mom cat teaches her kittens how to cat. He may have missed out on that.

Thanks for rescuing him! Hope he has a long happy life with y
ou and your family!

Yea he’s definitely somewhere in domestic because purebreds like you said don’t just happen with barn cats. But that tuff of long hair on the spine made me wonder if there was something breed wise that causes that or if it’s part of the longer hair kittens development. I haven’t seen it much personally.

It's just his kitten long hair showing. All my long haired kittens had it.
He looks like my old (now deceased) DLH cat, Dominique.

Here's one with the tail. I know someone said tail helps y'all determine long short or med hair.

The tips of the ears are slightly bent too forgot to throw that in there, it’s so random.

I'd classify him as a purebred Farm Boy lap ornament
Part of the fun of a mystery kitten is watching them grow. You might take a few good pictures of him every week or two as he grows so you can go back later and see how much he changes, or doesn't as far as coat and color.
He's a pretty little guy for sure. Enjoy him :wave3:

They just don't even happen with regular cats too. It just isn't a thing like with dogs unless they come from a breeder with papers. What a CUTIE though!! I agree with not using your hands for play, and hissing when he tries to.
