Thank you. :hugs:

I reached out to better understand the situation and there was so much miscommunication. The shelter and law enforcement did not handle this well and because of their reckless actions, this whole mess came into fruition.

When I asked questions and got both sides of the story, things made a lot more sense and I felt really terrible. So, I do believe this is what is best for the dog.

I dropped him off today. The old owner was so happy. Her and her mom cried so much and they were so grateful. I lost count how many times she said "Thank you!" And bowed. Made me feel a lot better. He was really happy to see them too. I feel a little sad but I knew it was the right thing to do and I know I couldn't live with myself if I didn't give him back.

First off I would get advice from an attorney, Legal Aid is free. The situation is tragic because it sounds like she truly loves the dog but perhaps she had a prob with substance abuse? IMHO, if she truly loves him she should let him stay with you because the stress would be horrible for him.
Legal Aid is free but only takes certain types of cases Each office sets their priorities and most do not take animal cases. There are also income requirements. It is worth a call but they probably wouldn't take it.

Even though I know you made the right decision, this outcome still broke my heart. You are one of a kind. What a selfless love you have for that dog. I do hope you are ok. We are here for you.

If the dog was happy and I was happy, I would have had my lawyer send a letter telling them stop with their harassment. However I am glad for you that the situation is resolved.

Yes, but there is a lot more to the story I haven't posted for obvious reasons. He belongs with his owner. :)
