My cat is a Traditional Persian. It seems like she didn't eat enough according to the portion of the day shown on the packaging. She used to have Whiskas kitten dry food, and she doesn't like it. And then I change it to Royal Canin Persian kitten, she eats slightly better but still under the portion that she needed. Now I'm changing her food to Acana Wild Prairie since the review is quite good.
Any of you encounter the same problem?

*She's active mostly at night, and she's seven months and weighs 2.8kg (6.1 pounds)

Has she always not eaten much or is this a new thing? Do you think you could give a rough estimate on how many calories she eats a day?

In my experience, the instructions on the package don't work for every cat. I just use them as a very rough guideline and really pay attention to the calories more than anything.

I would say she eat around 15-20 gram a day, according to the packaging is 45g a day.

How are you measuring how much she is eating?

According to the package I found of the Royal Canin website a kitten her weight and age should be eating 53g per day.

However, most food feeding guides are not the best. For an adult cat who is done growing they should be eating an amount to maintain their weight. Depending on the cats activity level that usually is around 20 calories per pound. Kittens can need as much as 100 calories per pound during their peak growing points which is why it's usually recommended here to just let them eat. If your girl is 6.1 pounds she is eating at least 120 calories a day to maintain that (at adult standards). With that kitten food being 427 calories per cup, she should be eating at least 1/4 cup or 26g (roughly) a day. Which is why I am wondering how you measure how much she does eat. Assuming your 15g is accurate, I would assume she hasn't gained any weight or grown any recently and is relatively sedate.

Other cats ideas Somethat aren't the won'tfood itself:
  • Some cats won't eat when watched or there is activity around them, so you might want to leave her alone with the food or leave the food out.
  • Sort of food related, but you should consider wet food in her diet for two reasons. One being that Persians typically have more compact mouths and a harder time chewing. Wet food is easier to mush and eat in that situation. The second reason being wet food has a higher moisture content which can prevent all sorts of health problems.
  • You may also want to consider a flat dish for feeding, if you don't already, preferably on a raised platform. Flat and raised helps flayer faces breeds eat without whisker fatigue and because of their face shape in general. The raised aligns their throat better for swallowing.
All of these might be issues making her less inclined to eat.

As for Acana, it's a decent food. They recently changed the formula to more meat, which is a good thing. I've heard cats can easily get fat on it, not that it is a concern for kittens, so once she is an adult you'd want to mointior feeding amounts closely. As a kitten, feed her as much as she will eat.

I measured the dry food with a food scale. For example I put around 20g dry food in the morning then i went to work. So when I reached home in the evening and there's a bit of left over.. probably can estimate she ate around 15 to 18g.

Do you leave food out overnight as well?

If I may add some feedback my cat is on Acana and that particular one, Wild Prairie is quite popular in Turkey with lots of reviews and if anything heavy majority of reviews tell the opposite. They stop eating when they feel full whereas with other foods which my cat used to eat too, since most of them add some sort of appetite stimulant to get the cats eat but they don't taste meat that much, they just keep eating and eating.

So does your fat look lean or underweight or overweight?

The problem of auto-correction. My Anya is currently underweight but not a big concern. Just slightly underweight according to my vet.
