It has been very hot here... though I do have air conditioning. My upstairs, where my cat sleeps at night tends to be hotter than downstairs.

My cat has been wanting more water. I am always very careful with my cat because I have had several cats die from kidney failure and his last tests were fine... so I notice immediately if he wants water. I also monitor his box and I can't say I have noticed a substantial change in his piddling habits. He normally goes 3x per day and now he is going 4. But given that he is having more water that seems ok.

Possibly, just like people. When the temperature rises the body starts to sweat more and you need to keep yourself well hydrated. Provide unlimited cool water for your cat to drink and cool areas for the cat to hide in. Use a fan or AC if needed.
