This is Alphinaud. We just adopted him today :)

He is 5 months old and the vet says he is underweight. Has been on a special diet to bulk him up for a couple of weeks now. They also thought he may have some sort of genetic abnormality or some sort of strange combo of breeds because while he is tabby cat colored his eyes are h u g e (especially compared to my 12 week old kitten i also recently rescued she was a stray baby) and so are his paws. His fur is incredibly dense. I've honestly never felt a cat with a texture quite like this. His fur is really dense. He is such a snuggly little dude and I love him already. We've been waiting on him to be "ready" ever since to the shelter received him so, i'm glad we finally have him in his forever home. Just curious if those of the internet might have any insight that our local small town vet does not.

He may have some Oriental, British Shorhair, or even Bengal in him, they all have large eyes and except for the shorthair (which have incredibly dense, soft fur), large ears. It may be though that since he is underweight, and young, he may just have them for now, and will most likely grow into them! He is absolutely adorable, and from my experience with kittens with large paws, will be a LARGE cat when full grown, they grow into those paws too! PS make sure for at least the first year he gets all the food he can eat and often too, he has a lot of growing to do.....

He's adorable! I would describe him as a brown tabby domestic shorthair. Do you have a picture from the side so that we can see his tabby pattern?

There is a lot of variety in the domestic cat gene pool, and most cats do not have any specific breed ancestry. Most likely your kitten just has a unique combination of traits all his own.

He’s adorable! I would describe him as a Domestic Shorthair, that is the landrace cat breed. He does have a tabby pattern, but if you post a sideview picture, we can help you figure out what exact kind of tabby pattern he has (mackerel, broken mackerel, spotted, or classic). He does have really big eyes, which is so cute! He might grow into them as an adult, as di and bob di and bob said. Or maybe he just has really big eyes! We’ll have to wait and see. I hope you will post more pictures of him as he grows up, because he is so cute, and I would love to see how he matures.

Perhaps his nutrition has affected his growth so while his body is meant to be large, his nutrition has kept him small. With good care he may fill in and grow and neither his eyes or his paws will seem so large. But he is seriously adorable as is.

He is really neat looking and I think he is going to be a whopper as far as size goes.

You guys are probably right that his nutrition deficient has effected him. :( poor guy. He’s doing so much better now though. Eating tons. They uploaded out of order but first picture is his fuzzier adopted baby sister Alisaie. :) she’s 12 weeks old and next to him you can see how small he is for a 20 week old cat! She’s the one trying to climb on him in the third picture while he sighs dramatically. Second picture is of him from the side eating. I think he’s a broken Mackeral? Or maybe just Mackeral? His stripes seem more solid in person. Ali has stripes that turn to spots the lower you go through. Idk what that would be considered. Both are grey but Ali is much lighter. Thanks for the help and encouraging words. I honestly didn’t expect this site to be so active but I’ll definitely stick around!!

That's his real sister, and she is eight weeks younger than him? She looks so sad in that photo. I think he is going to surprise you in terms of size, I think he is going to be a very large cat. I love his face.

that's his adopted sister :p not his real one. She just has a really sweet face. totally different personality than him for sure lol. Very very playful. Definitely not a sad meow :( Or maybe she was sad because I wouldn't let her walk across my keyboard. Who knows. Here's another photo of her right before she pounced at my face hahahaha.

I'm excited to see how he turns out. You're probably right that he is going to be huge!

Oh much better now, now she looks impish, more mischievous, like any red-blooded kitten should. Yeah, she was pouting in the other photo. LOL! People are often surprise at what good nutrition can do--he will grow into those paws.
