Anything changed in the environment? New neighbor, pets, animals outside? I had a neighbor whose work schedule changed and my cat decided when she heard someone moving next door it was time to get up for me too.

Have you had your cat in for a check up to the vet recently? I had a cat growing up that started to do this around age 12. It turns out that she was losing her vision and could no longer see at night with the lights out. She was crying because she could not see, she was scared and she could not find me. We actually left a small light on and that helped her.It could also be that the cat is hungry at night and the increased hunger could be something the vet could look into.

I leave a bathroom light on with the door slightly closed...but not all the way its open enough for light...in my bedroom..n i leave a small light on above my kitchen stove..I live in an apt..so the light from above kitchen stove...shines well into my livn room...dining room...all connected...and yes I have had him to vet recently...for checkup..and I leave out smal amount of dry food at night..just for nibbling..not alot..

The light may not be enough if indeed the cat is losing vision, and even a light may not help. It could also be that something has the cat spooked you are just not sure what it is. Our Tuxie who is usually a very hands off I don't want cuddled cat, was freaked out when we moved into a new house recently. She was used to a tiny one bedroom and she would meow all night (never did before) eventually she adjusted though. But she was saying if I could speak for her "where are you I cannot find you I am scared." I know cats sleeping in the bedroom can be disruptive but have you tried putting the litter box in the bedroom, and the food and shutting the door to see if that helps? I don't think the vet checks vision FYI, or at least ours never did.
