Hi there! Soo i'm new here just registered because i need some serious advice. Three days ago my cat was hit by a car(that was traumatising both for me and for him, especially him) and he couldn't walk very good with his back right leg. We went to the vet but in my city there s no way i can get an x ray of him. The vet said he has an inflammation at the base of his tail and he ll be fine. We went again today and now the vet believes there is a possibility that his tail might be fractured.i tried to test myself if his nerves are intact and i saw no problems with his responses to touch (he actually reacts pretty violently when I apply the anti inflammatory gel the vet prescribed) his tail kind of sits there and he doesn't move it pretty much. My questions are:will he be ok? And:if his tail is fractured, will it heal by itself? How long will it take? Thank you in advance for every bit of help and advice. I much appreciate it :D

Hi. The vet was not able to give him an anti-inflammatory shot vs. a gel? If he is not moving the tail it could be because it hurts, but it also could be because some nerves or bones, or even muscle/ligaments have been damaged.

There is no way to know for sure if he will be OK unless he can be properly looked at and given the applicable treatment(s).

I don't know where you are located, but can you at least call some other vets, or animal rescue centers to see if you can get a second opinion?
