Any ideas? He is normally so docile when I hold him or groom him. But his monthly flea medication he bucks and squirms and almost got it in his eye when I applied it today!!!

I’m thinking of wrapping in a towel in the ‘kitty burrito’ style next time. Does anyone else have a better idea? Once it is applied he is relatively calm. Just ignores me a bit but still takes treats. Should I try putting it on my finger then rubbing it into his fur like I did when he was a wee baby kitten? (& he only got 1-3 drops as prescribed by the vet.) Any help or insight would be appreciated.

I usually do Katy's when she is asleep in her box! :D It takes a bit of lurking until she is asleep in the right position but it does the trick. She too wouldn't let me put it on her when awake.

Ditto on the waiting for a passed out cat. Rocket will not allow it awake. So I wait for her to settle on my lap then start petting where I will apply it. She nuzzles right into petting and I can usually sneak it on then rub around that area. But Rocket isn't woken up by petting when she's on a lap; little girl is completely relaxed in this moments.

I do the Purrito on my Meeko. I learned to do this when he had ringworm and I had to give him medications. He allows me to swaddle him in a blanket and then I am able to part his fur and apply the topical medication pretty easily, he does run and hide after but he gets over it pretty quick!

Purrito is a good way to do it. I put SG on the kitchen counter then do a half-nelson around the cat's neck while collecting up the front feet and sort of leaning on her to hold her in place. If she doesn't throw a fit I know the little applicator bottle wasn't really open. The stuff stinks they are going to hate it.

Pictures of wrestling holds. you'll see a full nelson requires someone else to put the medicine on.
