Hi! I have two cats. One is a 5-year-old Balinese girl who loves every human being she has ever met, except for my loud and unpredictable daughter (understandable). The other is a one-and-a-half-year-old Siberian. She is beautiful and very soft. Unfortunately, she only loves me. She is rude to my husband, and will even nip at him. She is not a fan of my daughter, which, again, I can understand. With visitors, she is aloof and cold. But me (the one who took care of her as a kitten, and who feeds her, grooms her, and cleans her bathroom), she will follow through the house. She will meow to me, sit on my lap, and stare lovingly into my face. But everyone else gets coldness and scorn. What can I do? I did try putting some Temptations on my husband's sweater when he was reading on the sofa, but the effect was minimal. I just want to encourage her to be friendly, although I do realize you can't control someone else's personality.
It is especially annoying because she creates extra trouble and work. She is a picky eater (only likes food that you have to drive far away to buy), is always shedding huge balls of white fur, needs lots of brushing, and my husband is allergic to her. He takes special medicine and uses an inhaler to deal with living with her. She shreds chairs and rugs and zooms around at top speed every night at 9pm. Sometimes, I even have to clean her butt for her...argh. I just want to encourage friendliness, especially since my husband is already suffering from having her here. At least the other cat is nice. Advice? Thank you!
