She hasn't had a reaccurance in almost 7 years so I'm hoping it will stay away.

Wanted to update with the news that our possible IBS kitty is doing awesome on the commercial raw! I really think it has more to do with the protein source and limited ingredients than being raw, but either way, it’s a huge improvement! We mix in a bit of the Weruva lamburgerini because she loves the flavor. We’re hoping that at some point we can switch her entirely to a canned food, but for now we’re just really happy that she’s feeling better and is so much less stinky.

Kaia has never been tested for IBD but I feel pretty confident she's got it. She gets a commercial raw once a day for one meal (turkey) and the other three meals are canned.....I used to do a rotation diet with the canned but she was having diarrhea constantly, so now we are on just one brand of canned rotating between two different proteins. No more diarrhea at all for months. The raw is definitely a pain in the butt because my two like it at least room temperature, if not warmer.....so I just feed it to them when I have the most time each day (usually their dinner time meal....around 4:30pm). We have three kids and a puppy also....so I totally get where you're coming from when you say it's a pain to defrost etc!

I think going with something hypo-allergic is probably the best way to go or L.I.D. diets. My cats have severe allergies (which we are waiting on a diagnosis for IBD for).

Pet-store not chicken varieties:

If you are just looking for something without chicken
Natural Balance has L.I.D. diets that can be found in most stores. I think their duck and potato has good reviews, they also have a L.I.D. diet in the salmon variety too.

Performatrin Ultra is also pretty decent they have beef, turkey, and salmon varieties that don't have any chicken. It's also grain-free my only gripe with this food is there is quite a bit of carrot (which my cat couldn't digest).

Canada Fresh is a really good brand and doesn't have much in it but the protein in it and supplements, and no additives. (It looks and smells funky because of that): they have a lamb, duck, beef, and red-meat (beef&bison) variety with no chicken in it.

If you are willing to spend more

Koha cat has a variety of l.i.d. diets and non-chicken diets. The L.I.D. diets for them are pretty pricey but even the ones that aren't are still really good and don't have a bunch of nonsense in them.

Hounds & Gatos has a variety of foods that don't contain chicken as well.

But when it comes to vet prescription diets (These tend to be the priciest)

Hills has z/d (hydrolyzed protein), d/d (duck).
Royal canin has sensitive GI (It is chicken) but I've heard decent things about it.
They have v/r (venison and rice), duck, and rabbit hypoallergenic diets.

There are other novel proteins out there too if you end up needing it.

I know there are a lot of people on this site that do raw food so there is definitely support should you chose to go that route as well.

If I am honest though proceed carefully with your kitty make sure not to put her on too many proteins (or food rotations) if this blows into full on cat allergies, or IBD it can seriously limit the options that your cat has later. Try one thing at a time and if it ain't broke don't change it. I only say this because of my personal experience with my cats is that I rotated them quite a bit for 6 months when they first started having their issues and their symptoms were barely noticeable. Before I knew it, we had run out of most food options.
