I've a female cat who strangely never expressed any sexual interest nor went into heat (or at least any visible ones) she would also run away or avoid my male cat whenever he came too close to her. I decided to neuter and spay them still, but the funny thing was the day RIGHT before my male was sent to be neutered, he kept mounting her relentlessly the whole day and she actually allowed him to. Normally even if he came close to a couple inches near her she'd scoot right off.

Next day he got his crown jewels removed and i didnt think much of the incident, they both were inexperienced and looked foolish the whole time as she has a big fluffy butt and has a longer body than he does so it didn't seem like there was any penetration. But this is 3.5 weeks since then and most people have been telling me she seems to be expecting. (in any case, I am prepared to care for the kittens and would definitely be spaying her after this)

Yep I've checked these articles out, would just like to hear views from other kitty grandparents heheh. I hope it isn't a phantom pregnancy!

She could have had a “silent heat”, which is when a cat is in heat, but doesn’t show any symptoms. Since you did notice your male mounting her, she is most likely pregnant. Cats are very prolific breeders, so even with your girl being longer and fluffier than your boy, they were probably still able to find a way to mate.

Your vet will be able to confirm pregnancy if you’d like. And just as an FYI, it is possible to have her spayed now, but the pregnancy will be terminated.

I don't want to abort the kittens, since it has already happened. I have the capability to care for them and funds in the event the pregnancy faces complications. I went to the vet the other day but they said she's likely pregnant, although nothing would show up event if they were to conduct an xray exam as the fetus' bones aren't ossified yet (and yes i will get the kittens fixed when they come of age as well for sure)

Funds is one thing, but their health concern is another; I've seen you've already asked on this forum about the possibility of them breeding, have you done all tests necessary for Persian breed to ensure they are healthy? Are they purebred? Have you got a breeding mentor to help you through the process? Are they related? Have you checked all genetic related information to ensure they will be all right? If not, I think it's not too late to check all of this. I'm sorry for all these questions but I think they are important to ensure all goes well.

I have brought both cats for consistent vet check ups and had all their vaccinations done, verdict is that they're healthy. I appreciate your response but even if these weren't taken into consideration (which isn't the case) my cat is likely expecting and I'm not intending to abort the fetuses given that the conditions are pretty conducive, of course I did think and consider the well being of all cats and kittens involved. As of now I just want to know from previous experienced owners who have had pregnant cats and perhaps some comments or advice, or if there's a way to tell if this is a phantom pregnancy and not the real deal hahaha.

I understand that you would like her to have the kittens. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that spaying her now is an option. Most cat owners that I’ve talked to on TCS feel exactly the same way you do. I’m glad to hear that you have enough funds to care for mom and the kittens. We’re here for you no matter what, so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions. :)

Vet check up is one thing, but I'd be more worried about the genetics issues related to Persian cats, so at least checking the parents of your cat would be a must.
I'm sure you will get lots of support and information you're looking for and I truly hope all goes well!

Thank you! Since she's about nearly 4 weeks in already, what I've done so far is switched her to RC kitten food and created a separate area for her away from my other cats along with made a nesting spot with some old clothes. Any other tips would be appreciated as well

Fetal bones are visible on x-ray around 45-49 days gestation. If you want to know for sure whether she is pregnant at this time, you can confirm early pregnancy with an ultrasound. Any developing fetuses and their heartbeats would be visible by now on ultrasound. Or you can just wait and see.

It's possible she is pregnant, and it is also possible she is having a false pregnancy. If you observed any type of mating behavior, it's likely that she is pregnant, although purebred cats aren't always as fertile as random-bred cats. Males can continue to impregnate females for weeks after they are neutered.

Oh, I've heard that it does take a while for testosterone levels to drop, I didn't know they could still impregnate females though, thanks for the information, that was insightful!
