Hi everyone,
As I've talked about in a couple of threads, my boy Pierre (14yo) had 4 dental extractions one week ago today. He's had a rough recovery including an ER visit for an enema and a visit from our home vet today. He is basically on the upswing from what I see in his behavior and from what the vets are saying, but I'm wondering at what point can I stop worrying about complications specific to the dental extractions themselves? For example, my home vet said it's common for them to see sutures that fall out before they dissolve, but typically the cat will heal fine anyway as long as it's not immediately after surgery. And when does infection stop being a risk?

If hes eating normally within a few days up to a week, he should be fine. As for the infection risk- if he was prescribed an antibiotic it shouldnt be a risk (assuming the antibiotics are prescribed immediately following the dental they would be preventative)

If he had surgery almost a week ago I really think it's safe to say he's out of the woods! What an awesome custodian you are. He's so lucky to have you.
