Ernie is about a year and a half years old and is generally good natured. Within the last couple of months he won't stay off the lamp shades in our living room.
I'd love some advice as to how we can train him to leave them alone. I don't want to squirt him with a water bottle because I don't want him to associate that unpleasantness with me. We tried rubbing citrus on the shades and that worked for one day but he got over it quickly.
I saw a 4 Paws product designed to keep cats off furniture but reviews talked about a putrid smell and potential kitty health issues resulting from its use.
We're getting desperate. I don't think he really understands the time out discipline he's getting and I don't want our time together to be so negative.
Help?
Thanks!
