Hi there! Long time lurker, first time poster! We have two sibling kittens. The female went into heat before we could spay her (she’s barely five months old and her appointment was at the six month mark). Since the male hasn’t been fixed we had the female spayed asap. She went into heat last Friday and the vet was booked till Thursday so we boarded her at the vet until then. She came home today and she’s doing great! The problem is that apparently she still smells like she’s in heat and my male kitten is ALL OVER HER. The vet warned me that this could happen but she didn’t say how long it might last. Has anyone had a similar experience? How long after she was spayed did your female continue to attract males? Thanks in advance!!

Keep them separate for now, until all the hormones go away, it could take a few weeks, and you dont want him to hurt her. I would also get him in and fixed now, so he can start calming down.

A few weeks!? :O Oh my, that’s a long time! I was hoping it would only take a few days. Definitely going to try to get him fixed this week. Thank you!
