Hello
I'm new to this.
We have a 4 yr male tabby.
Very friendly, recently my father passed, about a week later he started peeing on the sofas. My dad wasn't a cat person, but my cat still stuck around while he was sick. Please help.

Is he neutered?

You should take him to the vet - he might've got an infection, perhaps brought about by stress or grief at your father's passing.

I agree with starting with a vet visit to be sure he doesn't have an infection.  Be sure you are cleaning where he has gone with a good enzyme cleaner. It will need to soak down in to get it all.  It can take a couple cleanings. But if he can smell it; it can draw him back so it is important.

All went well with the vet, no infection. I bought some icky poo. ( per vets advice) going to try that on couches. I think it is my dad not being there, he was home with him every day.
Not sure what to go about his stress

I am so sorry for your loss :alright:

Stress will be a big factor in this situation, and in this case it's something to discuss with your vet. A calming supplement such as Composure may help your boy settle during this stressful time. Interactive play is never a bad idea either - it's wonderful for feline stress busting, and not bad for humans either. It's hard to be stressed while watching a cat in full on play mode :jump: Try to keep to your regular routine as much as possible too, as that will be reassuring for him. Extra cuddle time will help too, and help him realise that you're not going anywhere.
