I have a 3 month old kitten who has fleas. We have given him petarmour but it didn't work even after several days, we switched to a different method using flea baths. I have given him at least 6 flea baths and the fleas fall off after the baths but they keep appearing day after day. I have tried vacuuming and washing all my bed sheets but the fleas just keep coming back. All the research that I have done shows me that this shouldn't be possible. Please help me!

Are you vacuuming too? Flea eggs can fall off the cat and hatch in carpets. Frequent vacuuming will suck up the eggs.

I haven't been vacuuming very much but I will start doing it everyday. I will do anything to get rid of all these fleas!

When my sister found our new kitten, she was covered in fleas. We bathed her with Dawn soap but didn't wet her head at all.

We noticed a bit later that a lot of fleas were hanging out around her ears. We had to bathe her again and keep her wet (and warm) while going over her whole body with a lice comb and tweezers. It took over an hour and was pretty miserable for everyone involved, but the vet couldn't find any more fleas on her the next day.

I would spray some anti-flea pesticide inside the vacuum cleaner. You want to make sure the eggs don't hatch within the vacuum cleaner.

Also, maybe you can find some tips in this article -

I would definitely recommend buying a flea spray for furniture and spraying it on curtains/furniture/ and under all of the furniture. Those pesky flea eggs go everywhere and they can live a LONG time without a host! The spray usually smells funny, but goes away after a while. And I agree with frequent vacuuming! Good luck!

This happened when we first got my dog, they all went to his butt under his tail and I wasn't washing it like the rest of him.

washing bedding and vaccuming r good starts. But u may need to call in an exterminator. My daughter moved into a new rental that was unknowingly infested with fleas. I felt soo sorry for her little kitten. She was doing the same things day after day but the darn fleas would not go away. When the exterminator came, she ask him to spray every where really well. He did n she hasn't had a problem since. Fleas can live in your carpets, furniture, stuffed toys, etc. So the items that r soft n not able to be sprayed with bug poison need to be washed with bleach, dried in a high temp. dryer, then sealed in a plastic bag for two months. In the mean time u need to also put "Frontline Plus" on your kitty on the back of her neck. Hold her until it soaks in n drys so she doesn't try to wash it off with her paws or rub it off onto the carpet or furniture. In the future keep your kitty indoors n put "Frontline Plus" monthly flea medication on her once a month, especially during the warmer months because fleas can come in on anyone's clothing or shoes without them knowing. It is also good to dust your yard with "Seven Dust" once each Spring to kill the fleas n ticks on your property. Doing this will not 100% guarantee no fleas or ticks, but it does get rid of most of them if not all of them. It is less expensive to give your cat a flea bath, but the baths do not kill ALL the fleas n if u get the shampoo in kitties eyes it will cause harm, maybe even blindness. They also lick themselves dry afterwards n r ingesting the chemicals which over time could cause illness. Last of all make sure u treat your kitty for worms, the dewormer from the vet. Pet store dewormer is not as strong n there is a different ingrediant that kills worms from fleas compared to worms from the ground or catlitter. U will need to deworm your kitty immediately, as soon as u have the exterminator spray, n 10 days following that to ensure the worms n their eggs have been killed. Animals usually do not die from the fleas, it is the worm infestation that starves n dehydrates their little bodies. It is a slow n painful death. Hope this helps u n your precious kitty.
