Have another question? I read where it's recommended to get a water fountain to encourage my cat to drink more (he is now in hospital with a blocked bladder)
I know there are tons out there, but Im looking for one that is quite, and easy to clean. I've read some are very difficult to clean. Again Thanks

I have the Hammacher-SChlemmer brand & it's great. It has a nice large resevoir, which for two cats requires filling around every 4-5 days. My baby Jak had a urinary blockage (quite severe) almost 2 years ago & we've been thru it all with UTI's (which were actually interstitial cystitis flare-ups...) but he loves the fountain, which is great for him.

Here is the link for the one we have:
http://www.hammacher.com/publish/72732.asp

It is somewhat difficult to get to all the corners, but it isn't that bad. I love that it has a flow-rate adjuster, so when you refill, it can be slowed significantly & not leak or make puddles. I do highly recommend it. Also, sometimes you can hear the engine hum, but it is jjust ready to be refilled when you hear it.

Good luck! & hope your baby is home & ok soon!!! :-)

That one is just what I have been looking for. Stainless Steel. I returned my Platinum Fountains, they are made of plastic (two of them). The slim and bacteria would build up too quickly and this fountain was a real pain to clean. I guess I never thought of the dishwasher like other's do
. But it seemed to me that only after a couple of days the slim would return. I also had a problem with chin acne coming on in three of my cats. So I was concerned that the fountain contained bacteria contributing to the acne.

This stainless steel brand looks easy to keep clean too
. Thanks for the link.....

I have the stainless steel raindrop fountain--it is made by the same manufacturer--I hadn't seen the one before that this link was for--but I just noticed that the raindrop one is on Amazon too, and is about $10.00 less--I think just the shape must be different. Both my cats love it, and it is easy to clean.

Along with the shape, the other difference is the one I posted (they call it the "Big Max" fountain) holds about twice as much water as the Raindrop one which is one of the things I liked about it (I was thinking of putting it on the floor so my cats and dog can use it too.)
Also someone told me their pets didn't like to drink out of the Raindrop one because there is not a lot of open space to do so because the 'fountain' part takes up a lot of the space.

My kitties are big on free-falling water. Their favorite fountain in the Drinkwell 360. Mine is plastic, but I do believe it comes in metal as well. I find it fairly easy to clean, & having multiple cats the multiple water streams is useful.

SInce I only have two cats, the smaller size is a plus for me. My bengal only drinks from where the water "bubbles up", & the other cat will only drink from the other side. I "top it off" every morning--it still has plenty of water, but the cats love the cold fresh water. They both run over to drink when they hear me adding to it. I fill it with filtered from the refrigerator & I think they love it when it is really cold.

I had my Hammacher Schlemmer "The 128-Ounce Ceramic Pet Fountain" for two years. I thought ceramic would be easier to clean than some of the others which are metal. And it is indeed simple, although time consuming, to clean: to do it thoroughly takes me about 20 minutes once a week. The filters last about a month before replacement as recommended.

It worked well but I dropped and broke it this morning while cleaning it at my kitchen sink (flooding my kitchen floor - entirely my own fault!).

I like this unit with reservations. It is perfect when it is working.

But the pump has been temperamental and after a year it sometimes refused to start up again after the cleaning. And a day after I gave the unit a comprehensive cleaning last week a lot of black bits started appearing in the (filtered) water that could only have come from the pump. Clearly the pump needed replacement but although Hammacher Schlemmer sells the replacement filters they do not sell a replacement pump.

So I would recommend this item wholeheartedly with the proviso that it isn't going to last forever. It does everything it claims to do, it does it well and my cat loves it! I am now looking for a new fountain, but I shall not be buying this one again just because of the logistics of keeping it running. I shall buy something available locally that I know I can get spares for. That is a pity, because I really like this product and my only quibble is that HM doesn't sell replacement pumps.

I have that exact fountain and I love it. I have a dog and 2 cats that drink out of it. It's easy to clean and the filters are available from Amazon at a reasonable price. You can add them to a subscribe and save shipment and they become even cheaper. I also have the Pioneer Pet Raindrop fountain in black ceramic that my 3rd cat uses. This one is considerably smaller. Both fountains use the same filters.

I have the petco fountain. Super simple and easy to clean. The hardest part is figuring out how to get it from the floor to the sink without getting water everywhere lol. It is plastic but my cat likes it and its easy to clean in my opinion. It was really cheap (15$) on Amazon and since I wasn't sure if she would like moving water I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I love it but once I get the money and have this one for a while, I really like the look of those Pioneer fountains!

I have a drinkwell fountain. I love it. I like the little bigger so it's easier to clean. I just take a tooth brush to the corners to make sure its clean.it works wonders and my cat loves it. Since getting it there's more P in the litter box. it helps keep him well hydrated.

After 4 fountain attempts including TheDrinkwell I have found the BEST fountain ever. It is called Cat Mate. Super quiet no splashing my cat drank from it the first day I put it down. You can purchase on the PetSmart website as they do not sell it in the store. Hopefully the motor will last but when it conks out I ll buy a new motor.
