@mickNsnicks2mom
Thank you so much for the help and welcome! I was beginning to worry that I'd committed some kind of forum faux pas and that was why I wasn't getting responses.
you're welcome!

it's kitten season in the US, and many members here are involved in rescue/fostering. so members who are experienced and have much knowledge about pregnant cats, birthing, and young kittens are kept "hopping" at this time of the year.

i try to check back on threads where i've posted but haven't had the knowledge/experience the original poster needs. if no one who has experience has replied after a couple days or so, i can try to bring the thread to a couple members (who have experience) attention.

Two new questions:
1. Freddie has stopped cleaning the area around her anus well. There is a constant small smear of feces. I clean her box a couple times daily and have only found regular, well-formed poop, and she is still actively engaged in self cleaning...
I think she's just having trouble reaching, Should I help her with baby wipes, or leave her be?

2. We're having some warm weather here and the room we've set up for Freddie was up over 80f (about 25-28c) yesterday. I have an air conditioner I could put in for her, but I think that would make the room too cool for the kittens, since we can't open the doors without giving the dog, bunny, and toddler access to it.
what is the right ambient temperature for mama and kittens?

To 1, I wonder if the traces isnt really from anal glands, as her poop is otherwise regular and well formed as you write.

Yes, you can try and help her wipe with a soft tissue, if she accepts it.   If not, leave it be.   (if the smear is on the fur, you can trim down the fur there).

2.  25 C is still OK, but 28 C is high, so yes, I think  try to relieve them as you can when it goes ut to these temps.    Can you grade the conditioner, so it doesnt go all out, but perhaps half force?   Otherwise you can have it on and off, enough to make the difference.

Good luck!  @ktmn

Thanks StephenZ!
Air conditioner installed, and since she's not making any mess, just looking dirty, ill leave her be for now.

I still haven't felt or seen kittens moving, though we must be at, or less, than two weeks away. Two weeks from now would be at least 65 days of her moving in.

Forgive me if this sounds harsh, but not having viable kittens would not be a great tragedy for us, we have a local humane society full of cats that could use those homes, and while I take the responsibility of managing this pregnancy seriously, and will continue to do everything in my power to produce healthy, happy kittens that go to only the best homes...
I'm really more concerned for Freddie's well-being.
when does "no kitten movement" in an alert, happy, cat warrant a vet trip?

Apparently I miscounted, because Freddie just gave birth to 6 kittens.
Finally!
The first was, again, born in my lap, but thankfully I was able to get Freddie to move to the box for the rest.
Three are light, like her, and three are calicoes.
The four she's let me weigh this far came in at 92,93,101, and 102g. All are nursing well.

Thanks for all your help!

Congrats! I'm so jealous! I rescued a cat and she had a false pregnancy!  I was so excited too. It was a huge disappoint finding out she was not pregnant.

Beautiful babies and best of luck!

Btw is there a limit on kitten pictures I can post? I'm going to make digital scrapbooks for each kitten's future family...I thought you guys might enjoy kitten pics as much as I do, and I'd be happy to post the best of.

Would you all like/am I allowed to post updates?

Congrats , Freddie and the babies are beautiful .. I am so happy she found you and you took her in  so she would not have to give birth to her babies  as a stray .. They all look very happy and content ..

Freddie is a very protective Momma! She barely tolerates my weighing the kittens each day, and, in fact, tries to snatch them back the second I move my hand away to get the weight...so it looks like I'll be doing group shots for a bit.

The advice I got here was amazing! It really made the process go more smoothly. If I could suggest one thing to the experienced advice givers, that would have been helpful to know, it was the huge volume of fluids to expect! I thought I was safe with thick blankets over the furniture, but I was scrambling for more by kitten three.

Weird aside: Freddie purred, loudly, throughout the whole two hour delivery. I'm curious if that is normal?

It's very common for a cat to purr when in pain. For such a small girl who's still a kitten herself to have 7 kittens... The poor thing was probably struggling.

Glad everything went ok. You can post as many pictures as you want. We insist on it:eek:
